Meta is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to join its Communications team in Spain for a 12 months STE contract, based in our Madrid office. You will have extensive experience in developing and executing high-profile communications campaigns tailored to various audiences, using social-first tactics, managing day-to-day media relations and handling complex issues. You will be hands-on and lead proactive and reactive communications from strategy to execution for the Meta family of apps in Spain. You will be collaborative: someone adept at understanding competing interests, an ability to navigate across teams, and work towards developing shared goals. Also a Strategist, able to think through complicated reputational challenges including brand – short and long term. Meta has billions of users globally so an ability to operate and think internationally is crucial. This role requires excellent communication and writing skills in Spanish and in English, as well as the ability to manage multiple high-level projects simultaneously. Strong organizational and management skills are both key to success in this role.Communications Manager, Spain – STE 12-Month Contract [STE] ResponsibilitiesLead and execute Meta’s Spain PR strategy, plans and programs based on reputational needs and company plans and metricsWork cross-functionally with numerous teams, locally and globally, to manage media opportunities, social-first elements and broader programsCreate campaigning platforms to proactively address Meta’s brand reputation and technologies challenges specific to SpainManage policy related press issues for the country, working closely with Policy Comms team in EMEA and Policy team in Spain to tackle issues and build proactive communications moments that advance the company’s position e.g. responding to reporters, drafting statements, correcting inaccuracies etc.Identify and pitch ‘good news’ stories about Meta and its technologies to deliver a steady pipeline of proactive coverage in SpainProvide communication counsel and support for business leaders in Spain and in Meta in generalPrepare briefing materials and manage executive spokespeople during media interviews and eventsManage own social platforms: Facebook page, Linkedin, Meta Spain NewsroomManage an external agencyMinimum QualificationsMinimum 12+ years of experience in CommunicationExcellent communication and writing skills in Spanish and in EnglishSignificant experience in managing external communications, corporate issues and project managementExperience executing media campaigns, crisis management, building relationships with media and working with executivesExperience managing agencies and contractors, and putting in place scalable processes to drive and measure resultsStrong existing relationships and contacts with Spanish mediaTeam player with exceptional project management and decision-making skillsExperience working with, influencing and presenting to executive level stakeholders (VP & C-level)Excellent collaborator, practiced at influencing others, and good at bringing larger groups along to execute complex cross-team projectsPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s degreeExperience working in a fast paced business or in techIn house communications experienceLocationsAbout MetaMeta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
