Applications are now open for a Part-time Financial Services Communications Manager in a
growing communications team at the Climate Governance Initiative, based in Cambridge which
works to drive action on climate change in company boardrooms globally.
The role offers the opportunity for experienced communications professionals to make an impact
on a positive agenda by promoting the Initiative’s global presence, running multi-channel
campaigns and helping to develop the Initiative’s communications strategy.
This role is a fixed term contact at the level of Communications Manager and is part of the
Communications & Engagement team.
Job Purpose
The Communications Manager – Financial Services Programme will report to the Senior
Communications Manager of the Climate Governance Initiative, and be part of both the FS
Programme and CGI Communications and Engagement teams. This new role will bring energy and
enthusiasm to a new programme as part of a growing, international initiative with huge
potential for driving climate impact in boardrooms around the world.
The role-holder will work with Knowledge Exchange and Communications colleagues within the
Initiative and in partner organisations.
Main Duties
- Work with the Senior Communications Manager and the Programme Director – FS Programme on
the development of a communications strategy for the FS Programme. - Provide communications support for the FS Programme and the wider Initiative, to include:
- Publishing, distributing and promoting content across owned communication channels, including the Initiative’s website and associated social media. Ensure reach and impact through SEO
- Preparing press releases, selecting appropriate recipient journalists and editors from specialist and generalist media outlets, and working to place these press releases in the media
- Writing and editing articles to support materials being shared across the Initiative’s network
- Responding to media enquiries
- Supporting the Programme Director – FS Programme – by providing copy, speaking notes, slidedecks and other collateral, and providing advice and support to optimise their impact.
- Manage the FS programme’s branding and messaging, aligning with the wider Initiative
branding and messaging, liaising with relevant partners. - Support the FS Programme’s schedule of events, by promoting attendance, and capturing
communications assets (e.g. images, video, quotes) from events - Approve and publish events on the Initiative’s website with the events schedule plug-in.
- Develop an awareness and understanding of the external climate governance and sustainable
finance marketplace, keeping up-to-date on other organisations in the same area. - Support the Initiative’s team with contact management, and manage contacts relevant to
branding and communications.
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties. The post-holder may be asked to take on
different tasks as required. All employees are expected to work collaboratively to support the
overall work of the Initiative and College.
The post-holder will be required to work on site but may also work for part of the week
remotely. Working pattern to be agreed with the Senior Communications Manager.
