In a fast-changing publishing landscape, OUP welcomes the inquisitive, the inventive, and the ambitious; people who challenge the conventional, and pioneer the possible.About the RoleOxford University Press (OUP)—the world’s largest university press—is looking for a Communications Manager to join its busy Group Communications team, which is responsible for building and maintaining our reputation and brand, and for engaging and communicating with our 5,000-strong global workforce.Reporting into the Head of Corporate Affairs and working closely with the Communications Lead for the Education and English Language Teaching (ELT) divisions, you will play a crucial role in helping to deliver ongoing communications activities for these business areas. As an active member of the Group Communications function, you will help to deliver content and campaigns that support both the Group Communications strategy and the Education and ELT strategies.Whether it’s working on our colleague newsletter, helping to run town hall events, supporting senior leaders, contributing to media campaigns, writing news stories, or embedding key OUP-wide initiatives in the division – this is an incredibly varied and exciting role.You will regularly work and interact with people from all over the world – internally and externally – so an ability to build and maintain strong working relationships is essential.OUP is currently undergoing significant transformation as it adapts to a more digital world. This is a great opportunity for someone who has some practical experience of communications, and is keen to get stuck in to help OUP to achieve its bold ambitions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.About YouYou’ll be enthusiastic, motivated, a strong team player, passionate about our mission, and eager to make a positive difference to our team, and our work.The specific skills we’re looking for include:

  • Some proven practical experience in public relations, marketing, or communications
  • Some proven experience of internal communications
  • Skilled and knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office, mass email applications, and an understanding of the role of intranet platforms
  • An excellent standard of English, both written and verbal
  • An ability to write in a variety of styles
  • The ability to communicate confidently with people at all levels, internally and externally
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage a varied and demanding workload, reacting to changes in priority as appropriate
  • Effective organizational skills

Desirable:

  • Experience of using CMS
  • Experience of working with external agencies
  • Social media and digital communications skills
