About ENTSO-EENTSO-E is the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity. We coordinate the cross-border system operations, system development and electricity market activities of the 40 electricity transmission system operators (TSOs) which cover 36 countries. If yes, ENTSO-E is the right place for youThe Communications Manager [Ad Interim] will work in the ENTSO-E Secretariat in Brussels, reporting directly to the Head of Policy, Communications and Stakeholder Management. You will be responsible for a small team dedicated to communications and media including the ENTSO-E website, public ENTSO-E applications and social media. Furthermore, support the overall Communication and Engagement strategy aiming to position the Association as a key facilitator of the Energy Transition.You will be part of the Extended Management Team of the ENTSO-E Secretariat. Together with the Head of Section, support the proactive management of all resources necessary to achieve team and organisational goals and the successful and timely delivery of major projects is essential. In this role, you will also provide support to the Secretary General, the Head of Section including the Main Office Holders of the Association in topics related to communications and engagement.This is an interim position offered on a temporary contract to address current priorities.Occasional travels may be required to support teams at events/meetings organised outside of Brussels.Your responsibilitiesResponsibilities may be subject to change depending on the evolution of priorities and projects. Key tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Lead, coordinate and guide Communications, media and ENTSO-E events initiatives.
- Define the overall management objectives and ensure smooth operations and deliverables and representation towards ENTSO-E Communications requirements to deliver on Association objectives.
- Provide communications advice to the Members of ENTSO-E to ensure ENTSO-E’s reputation and Voice of the TSO is well understood externally.
- Together with the Policy & Communications Group (PCG), develop a steady cadence of external communications opportunities, including external-facing events, media relations and digital.
- Ensure integrated execution of communications initiatives in collaboration with Members’ Public Affairs teams, utilising creative approaches and diverse communication channels.
- Provide strategic communication and engagement advice and required support for key ENTSO-E leaders, including the Secretary General, President, Vice- President, Chair of the Board and Vice Chair of the Board.
- Provide competent communications and digital media advice to the Committees/LRG and PCG on all European policy to support the activities of the Association.
- Lead and develop, in alignment with the Members, the ENTSO-E media and communications strategy and relationships in Brussels. Leverage the Members extensive knowledge and understanding of the network of contacts across the EU institutions and Brussels.
- Contribute to the definition of the overall ENTSO-E (Association and Secretariat) strategy, define section’s short term and long-term communication goals and implementation plans.
- Support the strategy to position the Association as thought Leader in EU Energy policy development.
- In collaboration with the Head of Section, improve the Secretariat’s engagement with Members under the Assembly, Board and Committees, including liaising on the Annual Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Plan and monitor the consultation and implementation processes.
- Initiate, direct and follow up on interactions with Members and stakeholders related to topics of communications and digital media.
- Ensure efficient allocation of resources on ongoing projects and day to day tasks for quality and timely delivery.
- Support the objective to attract, develop and retain people accordingly, and make sure that the team fully supports the activities. Provide direction and coaching to the team members.
- Ensure consistency, quality and completeness of the deliverables for members support, external representation and stakeholder relations. Deliver high quality decisions, documents, projects and recommendations for Assembly, Board and Resource committee.
Your profileThe Communications Manager [Ad Interim] requires the following skills and abilities:
- University degree with expert knowledge of communications with at least 10 years’ work experience in relevant sector, preferably in EU institutions, energy sector or related to TSO/Associations.
- Excellent understanding and experience of working with policymakers and stakeholders in Brussels , as well as strong knowledge of the energy and environment sector, regulation and policy discussions.
- Strong and reliable network across the EU and mindful of European Legislative context and how to influence ENTSO-E position papers.
- Experience working with business and opinion leaders and managing PR agencies to achieve communications goals.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the highest integrity and ability to develop trust with Members.
- Strong organisation and planning skills, with proven expertise in complex projects, managing resources, assessing priorities and task management under complex structures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with ability to negotiate and influence, and building consensus.
- Strategic mindset with a problem-solving attitude to effectively manage communications, issues and media enquiries.
- Change management expertise with a proactive and flexible, service-oriented attitude.
- Good leadership skills, with proven managerial experience with ability to lead and motivate a team.
