About the role:

The Commercial Director will be responsible for the management of the Commercial Excellence across the Advanced Wound Care (AWC) Business Unit to drive sustainable growth above market growth. The Commercial Director has a strategic and operational responsibility for Sales, Marketing and the P&L for the defined territory. This includes the development of concepts, tools and processes to drive commercial efficiency and execution in Sales and Marketing.

The ideal candidate will be based in Île de France.

Keys duties and responsibilities:

  • Maximize the potential of AWC BU in defined territory, support the VP AWC Europe with strategical inputs from the country level, while implementing local operational plans that are align with the broader global strategy

  • P&L ownership for Sales & Marketing AWC business incl. ensuring effective financial planning and KPI management; continually reviewing financial results to identify variances; developing action plans to drive opportunities and address issues to deliver targeted revenue and profit contribution

  • Work closely with Sales Force Effectiveness to develop strong targeting and segmenting methods for our sales organization

  • Lead critical new product introductions in the AWC business and increase market share position

  • Leverage market research and competitive intelligence to maximize market opportunities and identify potential barriers

  • Develops strong business relationship with key customers and influencers to develop existing business and capitalizes on new business opportunities.

  • Modelling and setting the company’s culture, values and behaviour, and leading by example, demonstrating trust, honesty, openness and integrity

  • Leadership role in assuring a motivated, committed and fully productive workforce; including the responsibility for developing and retaining key talent and knowledge within the organization and for attracting the talent needed for the future

  • Knows the local economic, market and industry trends and uses insights to maximize opportunities and minimize risk exposure

  • Represents Convatec interests with important external stakeholders as appropriate, e.g., government and regulatory officials, health care authorities, industry associations, key opinion leaders, physicians, patients, and advocates

  • Works collaboratively with global / regional and local functions

Additional responsibilities:

  • As corporate officer, the Commercial Director represents the Convatec France entity in its legal obligations

  • The Commercial Director is the Work council president and therefore drives, in collaboration with the HR manager, the relationships, negotiations and meetings with the representatives and the trade unions for the all the BU’s

Principal Contacts:

  • Internal: VP AWC Europe, Sales Team, Marketing, HR & Finance, Medical, SFE Team, Global Marketing etc

  • External: National Accounts Wholesalers, Procurement, , Distributors, Industry Association, etc

Language Skills

  • French: Mother tongue or native level

  • English: Fluent (speaking/writing/reading)

Main Requirements :

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalency is required. Graduate degree in Business or undergraduate coursework in Business is desirable

  • Solid experience in senior leadership roles in sales or marketing (>50 people, including manager of managers) in Life science industry, ideally in Medical devices with a P&L responsibility of >50mUSD

  • Entrepreneur mind-set, strong communication, performance driven with high ethical standards, commitment capacity and a natural leadership

  • Must have a solid foundation in Sales/Key Account Management and first-hand experience of working directly with salespeople

  • Analytical skills with solid understanding and knowledge of Financial Planning Processes (e.g. Budget Plans, Business Plans, etc.)

  • Previous experience working in a matrix organization with proven ability to influence at a senior level

Working Conditions:

Paris office based, full time role

Flexibility and willingness to travel within France and across Europe
