About usThe main focus of the Department of Neuroinflammation is research into multiple sclerosis (MS) and we employ a broad range of basic and clinical methods, including clinical therapeutic trials. The department is recognised worldwide as a centre of excellence for MS research, building on the strong foundation established by Professor Ian McDonald, memorialised in the internationally accepted “McDonald Criteria” for disease diagnosis.The NMR Unit, based in the department, uses advanced MRI techniques, MRI data analysis, and clinical trials to improve diagnostics and therapeutic interventions for MS.About the roleWe have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Fellow to join a the NMR Unit and advance research on late-onset multiple sclerosis, using data from the UK MS Register (UKMSR).This is a unique opportunity to capture more real-world data about living with MS in the UK, and you’ll also have the chance to work on MRI data from the Predicting Individual Treatment Responses towards Personalized Medicine in MS (PITMS) study.The post is available from 01 January 2025 and is funded by the MS Society for nine months in the first instance.The post is offered part-time at 7.3 hours per week (0.2 Full Time Equivalent). Experience of conducting clinical or MRI-based research in multiple sclerosis, with data analysis and statistical modelling, and good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills are also essential for this role.This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.What we offerThe role is offered in the range of £8,748.8 – £15,007.60 (i.e., 20% of £43,744 – £75,038) per annum including London Allowance, on the CL, JDPS, or StR scale, dependent on NHS contract and/or stage of clinical training.As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer great benefits, some of which are below:
