University of CopenhagenThe University seeks to appoint a clinical professor of Internal Medicine: Nephrology with special focus on Chronic Kidney Disease and Mineral Bone Disorder to commence as soon as possible. The externally funded professorship is combined with a consultancy at Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev and Gentofte, Department of Nephrology in the Capital Region.It is a requirement for appointment that the applicant is accepted for both the professorship and the consultancy. In the consideration of applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant’s ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of Internal Medicine: Nephrology.The professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

• Research, including publication/academic dissemination. Maintaining and developing clinical and epidemiological research within Chronic Kidney Disease with a focus on cardiovascular disease and MBD. Establishing a basic research unit that in the future will be able to support subsequent clinical projects.
• Research-based teaching, including associated examination. Supervising post doc, PhD and scholarship students. Teaching and supervising interdisciplinary within own area of interest.
• Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers. Academic and operational management of the department’s research unit. Maintaining and developing national and international research collaboration
• Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate

Required qualifications
To be qualified for a clinical professor position, you will be assessed according to these six overall criteria for recognising merit at the University of Copenhagen: Research, teaching, societal impact, organisational contribution, external funding, and leadership. • Document a high degree of original academic production at an international level, including considerable contributions to the development of the academic discipline
• Manage research and other management functions, e.g. engage in the university’s external academic activities, as well as knowledge and technology transfer

The position is a limited to a period of 5 years. Extension is possible if the employed candidate performs well in the position.
