The Job:

Cherwell District Council is at the forefront of tackling climate change and protecting our
natural environment. We’re committed to creating a sustainable future for Cherwell and its
residents. To further our efforts, we’re excited to announce a new opportunity within our
Climate Action Team.

The Person:

As part of our growing Climate Action Team, the Climate and Natural Environment Officer will
play a pivotal role in championing and enhancing Cherwell’s natural environment. You will lead
efforts to develop and implement nature-based solutions to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of
climate change.

  • Co-ordinating the management and enhancement of the district’s natural environment in
    alignment with our Climate Change Strategy.
  • Developing and delivering projects to support climate mitigation and adaptation, such as
    establishing new habitats to sequester greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to foster collaboration and
    support for on-the-ground projects.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in the natural environment, with a strong understanding of
    environmental conservation principles and practices.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing projects that support climate mitigation
    and adaptation goals.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and
    deliver multiple initiatives simultaneously.
