Project Overview:

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.  This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.

Job Summary:
Assigned to the Construction organisation as the Subcontract Technical Representative (STR) – Concrete Operations, the candidate will be responsible for the coordination and oversight of onsite concrete operations.  Responsibilities include oversight and Subcontract Management of batch plant operations and coordination with Construction Site Management. 

Major Responsibilities:
•    Perform walkdowns of work fronts, validate quantity installed for QURR (Quantity Unit Rate Reporting), attend QURR, and schedule meetings as requested.

•    Understand the application of Engineering Department Procedures, interfacing relevant Bechtel design guides and specifications with Codes and Standards.

•    Perform Submittal Reviews, providing comments and Status Coding of Subcontractor Inspection Test Plans, Civil installation Procedures, Product Data Sheets, and Inspection Test Reports.

•    Understand project schedules start/finish dates and milestones, coordinate with Project Controls and Subcontractor.

•    Monitor work activities of Subcontractors and ensures the quality of work performed.

•    Monitor subcontractor activities, assist with the coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff within the area of responsibility.

•    Prepare reports and organize essential tracking for the progress of submittals, change documents, and other reports associated with the progress of work.

•    Understand the role interfacing with other project disciplines, including basic construction practices, means and methods.

•    Assure proper storage of concrete constituents is maintained to meet quality requirements and assure consistent batching during normal as well as adverse weather conditions

•    Assure batch tickets are created and maintained in accordance with site requirements

•    Assure that adequate quantities of material are available to meet site placement schedule

•    Assure batch plant maintenance is scheduled and performed so as to not impact site placement schedule

•    Assures Subcontractor’s maintenance plan is adequate to ensure longevity of the equipment and plant

•    Assures compliance for specifications required for all plant safety

•    Assures quality testing/monitoring of concrete production activities

•    Assist in resolving plant operational issues (outages, repeated equipment failure, controls, etc.)

•    Work with site civil team to optimize placement schedule to achieve maximum efficiency of the batch plant

•    Assures all subcontract requirements are met.

Education and Experience Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree or internation equivalent and 5-8 years of relevant work experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
-Must be Authorized to work in Poland.
-Applicants must have native-level proficiency in Polish.
-Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing in very small and/or confined spaces.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
-Candidates should be self-starters, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and able to work well in a team environment.
-The candidate should have a good working knowledge of current design codes and standards.
-Knowledge of environmental compliance standards
-Extensive experience with Concrete Batch Plant operations (continuous batching, ready mix, dry mix and central mix)
