The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Laboratory Technician to work in the Chromatography, Thermal Analysis & Electrochemistry Unit of the Characterization Technologies Department.ICIQ is one of the world’s internationally recognized leading institutions in the field of chemistry committed to solving major social and economic challenges by conducting top quality research in three main areas: Sustainable Catalysis, Renewable Energy and Health. The institute also aims at training the future generation of scientists by offering high-quality educational programs to master, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers (full details on ).The candidate will work in the Chromatography, Thermal Analysis & Electrochemistry Unit.This Unit is part of the ICIQ scientific core facilities and is fully equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation regarding chromatography (GC, LC, SFC, IC), thermal analysis, electrochemistry and some accessory lab instrumentation (glove box, solvent purification system, dry freezer, centrifuge, precision balances, Karl-Fischer).Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Operation and maintenance of all the Unit instrumentation.
• Help researchers in the use of the Unit equipment and techniques.
• Laboratory organization and definition of the experiments.
• Study of new techniques suitable for the Unit and the center.
• Development of analysis methods and validation of chromatographic methods.
• Implementation and start-up of new equipment.

Requirements:

• Degree in chemistry
• Experience of almost two years in the chromatographic techniques including GC, HPLC, UPC, SFC and preparative systems.
• Experience with mass flow controllers, GC equipment with valves and PDHID detector.
• Experience of almost two years in DSC and TGA analysis.
• Knowledge and experience in Glove Box and SPS.
• Good working knowledge of English.
• Fluency in Spanish and/or Catalan.

Valued qualities:

• Master degree in chromatography
• Experience in other spectroscopy technics like IR, Raman, UV-Vis, etc.

• Remuneration according to individual’s qualification/experience
• Annual salary split into twelve monthly payments.
• Incorporation: November 2024.

Tasques i Responsabilitats:

Requisits:

• Grau en química
• Experiència de gairebé dos anys en les tècniques cromatogràfiques incloent GC, HPLC, UPC, SFC i sistemes preparatius.
• Experiència amb MFC, equips de GC amb vàlvules i detector de PDHID.
• Experiència de gairebé dos anys en anàlisis tèrmic DSC i TGA.
• Coneixement i experiència en Glove Box i SPS.
• Bons coneixements d’anglès

Qualitats i habilitats valorades:

• Màster en cromatografia.
• Experiència en altres tècniques d’espectroscòpia com IR, Raman, UV-Vis, etc..
