The development of the system draws upon multiple engineering disciplines (mechanical, robotic, automation and production) and this role will be responsible for the development of state-of-the-art tape laying systems and cells, that incorporate iCOMAT’s RTS process with a focus on driving improvements across process reliability and speed. The role will continually drive innovation in our core engineering disciplines and as the company evolves, it will expand to include additional facets of engineering around factory/production automation (i.e. vision systems for inspection, pick-and-place systems), with aim of developing the world’s first lights-out factories for composite materials. What will you be doing? 🤔Development & Continuous Improvement of core RTS System:

  • Continuously improve and refine iCOMAT’s 2D RTS production systems, focusing on reliability, production rate and the development of new capabilities.
  • Lead and further grow a multidisciplinary team and manage resources across all engineering functions (mechanical, automation & controls, electrical).
  • Manage the programme of work and ensure we deliver the planned systems and upgrades on time and on budget.
  • Foster a high-performance culture across the engineering function

New Product Development & Factory Automation:

  • Develop and execute engineering programs focusing on new product development (e.g. tape laying systems that focus on 3D deposition, different material types such as thermoplastics)
  • Develop a technical product roadmap that leads us to our vision of delivering the world’s first lights-out factory for composites production, focusing on developing and integrating automated factory systems (e.g. preform pick-and-place) on our manufacturing workflow.

What do we need from you? 💪

  • Previous experience at senior level in a relevant startup or within a rapidly evolving environment
  • Expertise and a strong track record in at least one of our core engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, control & automation).
  • Demonstrated success in managing intricate engineering projects within budget and time constraints.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
