The CH-47 Aircraft Mechanic AM-3 performs the full range of military tactical aircraft maintenance functions including assembly and modification on the assigned aircraft ( CH-47 ), their major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and related systems.

Perform the full range of military tactical aircraft maintenance.
-
Install, connect, and adjust complete systems such as fuel, heat, lubrication, hydraulic, engine, and transmission: install and align fuselage parts; balances, aligns, and installs tail rotor assemblies; rig complete flight control systems.

Incorporate authorized modifications and changes.

Make operational checks of hydraulic and fuel systems using external power sources and powered ground equipment.

Inspect and troubleshoots to determine cause of malfunctions; disassembles to point of trouble; adjusts, repairs, realigns or replaces defective component or assembly.

Direct the work of lower-graded mechanics for complete assembly, modification and checkout of the entire aircraft and coordinates with related trades such as electrical, avionics, and sheet metal to assure proper sequence of the complete aircraft assembly process.

Knowledge of the makeup, operation, installation and modification of a wide variety of classes, models and series of aircraft, their major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components and related systems.

Technical knowledge of the aircraft models and components/sub-assemblies assigned for maintenance, modification and repair.

Ability to assemble a variety of system assemblies, and sub-assemblies such as fuel and hydraulic systems, tail boom assemblies, and the power train. Must be able to connect, mesh, align and adjust the system with one another and to determine the sequence of installation of these systems for proper coordination of the entire aircraft assembly process.

Able to properly use a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices such as gauges, torque wrenches and scales and test, measurement and diagnostic equipment related to specific aircraft models.

Able to trouble shoot and determine when faulty systems or assemblies can/can’t be corrected through repair of replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required.

Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
-
High School Graduate or equivalent is required.
-
Five (5) years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience is required.

FAA A&P OR FCC Elements 1 and 3 Required.
-
FAA (A&P) required, with at least Two (2) years aviation maintenance experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned MDS (CH-47).
-
All experience must be within the Five (5) most recent years.

If No A&P, Must possess an FCC License with (Elements 1 and 3) And Three (3) years Aviation maintenance experience, Three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience and two (2) years on the assigned CH-47 Mission Design Series (MDS).

Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance, NAC-I T1 Public Trust. US Citizenship is required to obtain a T1/CAC NACI Clearance.

Interim NACI approval required for deployment.

Valid US Passport Required for deployment to Germany.
Germany Specific:
-
TESA Approval: (German Govt) Must be able to qualify for TESA approval; with 5 years career total Aviation maintenance experience.

Travel: As required in support of task order.
Knowledge & Skills
-
Shall possess the level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I and II and must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.

Shall have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures and replacement of parts requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.

Shall have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.

Shall have a working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, utilizing the Army’s Logistics Information System (e.g., ACN, ULLS-A).

Shall have a basic knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and structural modification and repair.

Shall have the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.

Shall have a detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as cable tensiometers.
-
Ability to read, apply and interpret technical data.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment

Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.
-
Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.
-
Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
