Job Description:Grade UE06- £32,982- £38,205College of Science & Engineering- School of EngineeringFull-time- 35 hours per weekFixed-term: 48 monthsThe Opportunity:This exciting position is supporting the new Centre for Net Zero High Density Buildings (CeNZ-HighDB) and will provide administrative and finance support for the delivery across a portfolio of projects and multiple stakeholders. A primary aim of the Centre is to accelerate the green economy outcomes and impacts for the built environment and construction sector to deliver net zero.The role of administrative and finance support is critical towards the delivery of the new Centre for Net Zero High Density Buildings (CeNZ-HighDB). CeNZ-HighDB will develop new low carbon construction products, processes, energy and data analysis systems, building archetype solutions and innovative approaches to accelerate the development of net zero solutions for high density housing, buildings and community districts. This will lead to faster, optimised, greener and overall more holistic system based solutions to enable net zero delivery for high density buildings in cities and towns, supporting the green economy and future jobs growth.Supporting all administration and finance operations of the Centre, the role holder will also engage and work with the Centre team and partners locally, nationally and internationally. The post-holder will report to the Centre Manager to support the Centre’s activities, as well as supporting academic colleagues and external stakeholder who are contributing to the Centre’s projects and initiatives. The Centre leadership team, and therefore this professional services post, are contracted by the School of Engineering and the Centre team will be based at the Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) aligned to the Centre for Future Infrastructure (CFI). The individual will also work in close collaboration with academic colleagues based in the School of Engineering and across the College of Science and Engineering, Edinburgh Innovations, EFI, academic leads in other UK HE institutions and industry and civic partners to support the delivery of the strategic and operational objectives of the Centre.This post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Experience of finance and administrative support working with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience and knowledge of university or public sector administrative support
  • Ability to support management reports on operations, budgets and project spend.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and supporting complex projects
  • Experience of supporting and organising diverse events involving multiple stakeholders

At the microscopic scale, its research supports the design and deployment of novel nanotechnology and devices for biological monitoring and medical diagnosis; at the macro/global scale, it optimises the security and sustainability of the built environment and develops engineering solutions to climate change issues. In REF 2021 the joint submission from the University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University to General Engineering was ranked 1st in Scotland and 3rd in the UK for quality and breadth of research. The ranking cited is based upon the breadth and quality of research which apply standard formula (as used by the Times Higher Education) to the REF 2021 results.The School has a strong track record in producing more than 50 technology spin-outs and developing industry links that enable our graduates to build career-long relationships.
