This program is open to recent college graduates and professionals with industry experience and is designed to build the employees skill sets within a specific industry; following completion of the program, you will move to either a field-based position supporting Caterpillar Dealers and customers or to another long-term position that will then lead to a field-based role.

What is the Program?

Each person hired into the Caterpillar Representative Development Program is assigned a coach to help guide your progression through the Program. You will receive personalized onboarding, soft-skill, sales and technical training specific to your field assignments, and participate in a variety of rotations across the business to ensure you have the means necessary to achieve your career goals.

1–3-year Developmental Program

Customized development plan to understand and learn Caterpillar machines, organizations, and values

Training

You will start your journey with a common 10-week training program (called the MTC “bedrock”) where you will learn about Caterpillar products, our Services, and the company strategies per industry, participate in influencing skills curriculum, build and expand your network and be exposed to dealers and customers in EAME region.

Rotations

Work in various roles throughout Caterpillar, learning strategy and products to help you advance in your future field position

Full – Time

Released with all the experience and knowledge you will need to partner with Caterpillar Dealers or initially with Caterpillar reps in some cases to drive strategy alignment and customer loyalty

Job placements support the employee to eventually become an Industry & Work tools Sales Rep.

The Industry & Work tools Sales Rep job duties include:

  • Achieve Annual Business Plan within Sales Variance budget of GCI Purpose Build machines and Work tools sold in the Industry Segments for a group of dealers within a region

  • Engage dealers in their Business Planning and Go-to-Market for the Industry Segments and Work Tools.

  • Responsible to position commercial solutions and services through the Cat-on-Cat One-Stop-Shop for profitable growth.

  • Collaborating with dealers on forecast, sales/rental/used strategy planning and Training needs.

  • Analyzing and communicating marketplace and competitive activity to Caterpillar personnel and dealers (e.g., I&W segment specialist)

  • Analyzing product application, configuration, competition, and deal sheets that provide the best solution and value for a customer

  • Create support programs that are aligned with dealer tactical sales plan while maximizing price realization

  • Ownership of a personal development plan that includes the necessary steps/actions to grow to the required proficiency level of defined competencies, skills, and behaviors.

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a Marketing or Engineering degree or the equivalent

  • Must be willing to travel 25%-70% depending on the role

  • Good communication, leadership, interpersonal and collaboration skills

  • Be willing to live in a different country for up to 3 months for a specific rotation

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous technical internship or entry-level marketing experience preferred

  • Demonstrated technical and non-technical aptitudes are highly desired

  • Intermediate proficiency with any of the following:

  • Construction Equipment

  • Mining Equipment

  • Diesel Engines

  • Natural Gas Engine
