Caretaker
West Bromwich – covering the Midlands
£23,835 – £25,090 per year
40 hours per week
We are looking for a Caretaker to join our Estate Services team based in West Bromwich. This role will combine elements of general grounds maintenance and caretaking duties of properties and schemes throughout the Midlands. Your main patch will be West Bromwich and surrounding areas, however, you might be asked to cover other sites as and when required to carry out compliance testing. As this is a fully mobile role a company van and tools will be provided to complete tasks. We are looking for a proactive individual who will complete tasks in a timely manner but to a high quality and who works well within a team.
The role of Caretaker
will include:
-Undertaking general caretaking duties including; internal block cleaning, litter picking, cleaning and clearing of bin stores and bulky waste removal
-Ground maintenance tasks including lawn mowing, hedge trimming, weed spraying and general upkeep
-Working with customers to identify faults, resolving issues and improving services
-Completing all documents and paperwork concerning tasks completed
-Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and continue to be suitable for required tasks
-Respond positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations
-Carry out all hazardous tasks such as spraying, in accordance with supplier guidelines ensuring relevant records are maintained to comply with health and safety and legal requirements
-Use equipment and materials in a safe manner as instructed and in accordance with risk assessment and the manufacturer’s guidance
Skills and experiences:
-Literacy and numeracy equivalent to Grade C English and Maths GCSE
-A pesticide application certificate PA1 – PA6 or equivalent is desirable
-Experience in a similar role or completing similar tasks
-Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
-Practical experience in operating hand tools, and gardening machinery is essential
-Good communication and customer care skills
-Some experience of working to deadlines and prioritising work loads
-This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence
