Personal Care Technical Service & Development Internship – Evaluation of polymers in hair care applications for new benefits

About you and this role

We are looking for you, an ambitious master’sstudent,to support our Personal Care Technical Service & Development Team located in Seneffe (BELGIUM) by doing an internship project aiming at evaluating different polymer structures and functionalities in hair care for new benefits.

With deep market insights and in-depth application expertise, we provide technical support to customers and develop innovative solutions that address current and future customer demands. We focus on the development of sustainable solutions that provide skin and hair care benefits. You will work in a multifunctional team and will interact with colleagues in different regions.

Project description

With a strong background in Formulation and Material Sciences, you will evaluate polymers with different structures and functionalities and study their impact on hair properties and benefits including hair color protection. You will first conduct a comprehensive literature search to become familiar with what has been done in the field. You will then develop or improve relevant application test methods to evaluate different polymers for the targeted benefit. You will develop new formulations aligned with market trends and evaluate their performance in application. During the study, you will use relevant analytical tools and testing procedures to measure the performance of the different polymers, understand their mechanism of action and establish structure-properties relationship. You will work with different chemistries including silicones and bio-based polymers.

Qualifications

• You are currently studying for a master’s degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Material Sciences or Formulation. Preferable to have education and/or experience in cosmetics.

Preferred Skills

• You have a good working knowledge of English.

• You have experience in working in a lab and safety is your priority.

• You have experience in Formulation (Cosmetics Formulation will be a plus).

• You have a passion for applying innovative ideas and demonstrate curiosity and critical mindset in your activities.

• You have strong scientific method, statistics, and project management skills.

You can start between January and April 2025 for a period of 4 to 6 months (exact timing to be discussed).
