Job Title: CAD Technician 
Location: York
Salary: £29,000 – £35,000

My client is looking for someone to undertake and produce designs, layout drawings, and detailed engineering drawings for projects as requested, ensuring all work is completed in a professional, accurate, and timely manner.

Experience:

– Previous experience within the Sheet Metal Industry
– Experience of welding, fabrication, and manufactured assemblies
– Strong academic background in Mathematics, English and Science
– Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
– Experience producing general arrangement (GA) / layout drawings for manufacturing, installation and customer approval

Technical Requirements:

– City & Guilds or equivalent Certification in AutoCAD
– Layout and GA drawing production
– Competence in producing: 2D layout drawings
– Exploded views, BOMs, and part libraries
– Proficient use of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook

Main Tasks:

– Produce layout drawings (GA drawings) to communicate design intent, spatial planning, installation requirements, and customer approval details
– Coordination between Designer, Production, and Suppliers to ensure timely issuing of all drawing types
– Visit customer sites as required to gather dimensional data and project requirements
– Implement new design concepts and ensure layout drawings accurately reflect feasibility and manufacturability
– Proactively chase drawing approvals and resolve queries from clients and production teams
– Produce all drawings in line with project expectations, technical standards, and deadlines
