AECOM are looking for a CAD Technician to work on our joint venture with Caledonia Water Alliance where we have teamed up with Morrison Water Services to deliver Scottish Water’s SR21 Water and Wastewater Infrastructure programme.

Job Description

What your new role will entail;

The Water team in the UK&I are looking for a Civil 3D / CAD Technician who will a be pivotal in our project delivery process. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary teams, across Civil, Structural and MEICA engineers, to develop and produce engineering deliverables. By utilising your expertise in Autodesk Civil 3D and CAD software, you will contribute to the creation of CAD models & drawings that form the foundation of our projects. These drawings will serve as a crucial resource for design, analysis, and communication, ensuring the seamless and efficient delivery of our projects.

As part of your responsibilities, you will create comprehensive detailed design deliverables that adhere to the highest industry standards.

The main responsibilities of the successful candidate will be as follows:

  • Knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D / CAD software and document management systems.

  • Produce comprehensive and accurate construction deliverables, including base models, plans, sections, elevations, and construction details.

  • Works under limited supervision performing complex technical work.

  • Support the CAD Manager in maintaining CAD standards, best practices and processes.

  • Duties may include technical responsibility for a major phase or component of a project.

  • Takes lead role in workflow co-ordination.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined features.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Advise and mentor less experienced colleagues and peers.

  • Attend and contribute to design team meetings.

  • Comply with CWA Quality Assurance procedures.

Being part of the team;

You will be key to the Wastewater Flooding, Capital Maintenance, Growth and Improving Urban Waters programmes for our client, Scottish Water designing all elements of wastewater infrastructure through our SR21 water infrastructure framework across Scotland.

You will be part of a diverse team of Engineers and Technicians, with support from specialist Designers from within the AECOM and CWA communities. Using the latest design software, working to industry best practice standards, with support from our industry experts you will be given the opportunity to push the boundaries of what is possible.

We promote staff development and progression to enable us to elevate and upskill our teams and there are many development opportunities within CWA. CWA offers a unique opportunity to deliver the full project cycle, from concept design through to detailed design, and delivery!

The role will be based in Stepps, which is only a 5-minute walk from the train station, and local shops/café’s and there’s also parking provided too!

Qualifications

Here’s what we will need from you;

  • A background in engineering design – ideally related to water company infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets including the civil design and specification.

  • Experience in wastewater infrastructure design.

  • 5 years’ experience producing Autodesk Civil 3D / CAD deliverables.

  • Minimum of HNC or equivalent

  • Understanding of ISO 19650 standards

  • Experience working in a Common Data Environment such as ProjectWise or similar.

  • Ability to clearly communicate and interpret instructions.

  • An interest in supporting/mentoring junior and less experienced CAD Technicians.
