The Director, Partnership Development is a key member of the Strategy and Partnerships Leadership team responsible for ensuring the viability and appropriate contracting of Abcam’s strategic partnerships across the Life Sciences & Diagnostics industry, maximize the value of Abcam’s unique reagent portfolio for proteomic research through enabling partners workflows.
This position reports to the Vice President of Strategy and Partnerships and is part of the Strategic Partnerships team located in Cambridge, UK and can be based remotely within the UK
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Provide strong leadership for the Partnership Development team at Abcam, with a specific focus on accelerating revenue growth and strengthening our position as a preferred strategic partner for affinity reagents
Continuously generate leads with new and existing global partners identifying opportunities for further growth aligning Abcam and Partner value chains
Collaborate cross functionally with R&D, Product, Ops, Legal/Regulatory, and Finance teams to ensure viability, evaluate and appropriately structure complex agreements
Lead, with the support of legal team, the proposal, negotiation and execution of term sheets and contractual documentation ensuring alignment with business objectives
Ensure compliance with internal processes as well as all legal requirements
Lead and build a team, providing guidance, mentorship and driving best practice
Manage multiple projects consecutively with clear communication to cross functional and cross Danaher collaborators and management
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business administration, or related field;
Long standing experience of executing business development opportunities with the life sciences industry, with proven track record of commercial contract terms development and negotiation including reagent out-licensing, comarketing and partnership structures
Proven experience leading business development teams within the life sciences industry, with ability to motivate a team of individual contributors
Solid understanding of commercial research, diagnostics, and companion diagnostics markets, including regulatory requirements, industry trends, and competitive dynamics
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
