The Role:

The University of Cambridge is seeking a knowledgeable and committed individual to join the
University’s Sustainability Team as Building Energy Manager.

The Sustainability Team provides strategic direction to the University on environmental
sustainability issues. It develops and implements long-term plans to reduce the University’s
carbon emissions, to manage and mitigate its environmental impacts and to comply with
regulatory requirements.

The Building Energy Manager plays an instrumental part in a well-established and rapidly
growing energy and carbon reduction programme across the University Estate. With a proven track
record in improving building energy efficiency and carbon reduction activities, the post holder
will manage energy and carbon reduction initiatives from initial identification through site
surveys or data analysis, to practical implementation, monitoring and reporting. The post
involves extensive engagement and collaboration with a range of stakeholders across the
University, hence strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate technical issues
to a range of audiences is a key requirement.

About You:

In order to succeed in this role, you will join us with:

  • Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills;
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement and working with a range stakeholders;
  • Considerable project management experience;
  • Experience in initiating and delivering a broad range of energy reduction measures, at the
    building and site level.
  • Knowledge of a range of environment sustainability matters, in particular those relating to
    carbon and energy management;
  • A commitment to achieving results and ability to self-motivate.
