Job description

Offer DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher for a 1-year
position to join the project “Brain signatures of ‘self’ representation explain and predict future depression in chronic pain patients”. This project aims to identify neuroimaging biomarkers linked to self-representation that can predict depression outcomes in individuals suffering from chronic pain.
Project description: The study focuses on uncovering how specific brain
signatures associated with self-concept and self-judgment predict
depression in chronic pain patients. Using advanced neuroimaging
techniques, the project examines the mechanisms of self-related processing and their influence on emotional health in chronic pain contexts. This research has the potential to inform early identification and personalized treatment approaches for patients at risk of more negative health outcomes.
Responsibilities: The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with the
Principal Investigator and research team to:
– Conduct neuroimaging analyses (e.g., fMRI) and apply statistical and
machine learning models to identify predictive markers of depression.
– Design and execute experimental protocols related to selfrepresentation and chronic pain.
– Prepare manuscripts, reports, and presentations for dissemination of
findings within the scientific community.
– Collaborate with other team members and external partners,
contributing expertise in neuroimaging and psychological assessments.Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsResearch Field Neurosciences Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/Qualifications– PhD in Neuroscience, Psychology or a related field.
– Proven track record of publications in research areas related to chronic pain and brain imaging
– Demonstrated expertise in neuroimaging techniques, particularly fMRI.
– Proficiency with neuroimaging analysis software (e.g., SPM, FSL, CONN).
– Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience with statistical software (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB).
– Familiarity with machine learning techniques for predictive modeling.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
– Experience with experimental design and data collection in clinical populations, particularly chronic pain or mood disorders.
– Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team.
– Strong organizational skills and experience managing complex datasets.Specific RequirementsRelevant computer skills: Advanced user of MRI analysis software (FreeSurfer, FSL, SPM, AFNI, CONN), software to program fMRI task designs (E-prime), R, Python, MATLAB, SPSS, Jamovi, and Office Packages.Languages CATALAN Level Mother TongueLanguages SPANISH Level Mother TongueLanguages ENGLISH Level ExcellentResearch Field NeurosciencesAdditional InformationBenefitsGross salary per year: 40.995,00 euro * 12 paymentsEligibility criteria
