Then this might be the right opportunity for you.Role and responsibilitiesThe research department is looking for a mechanical / Multiphysics modelling expert focusing on Wafer-to-Wafer (W2W) bonding. ASML customers are increasingly relying on bonded wafers to realize their product roadmaps, which leads to changing requirements to ASML product offerings. The goal of this role is to model, understand and control bonding processes, to allow ASML to shape future products to optimally help our customers.Together with a multi-disciplinary team you will work on the designing, analyzing, and testing of new innovative product designs and production processes for the next-generation ASML machines. You will be closely engaging with ASML D&E department, suppliers and innovation partners.We are looking for a modelling expert who gets energy from applying modelling and numerical techniques to solve real-world engineering challenges, where needed pushing the state-of-the art of modelling techniques. The role offers the opportunity to further grow into defining and owning the competence roadmap on the topic.Education and experienceEducation:(Technical) University Master with relevant working experience or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, or similar engineering field (Aerospace, Physics, Mechatronics) with strong solid mechanics affinity.Essential experienceExpert in solid mechanics and multi-physics numerical modelling techniques, experienced in advanced application of Finite Element modelling and analysis (FEA)Several years of experience in building and applying continuum solid mechanics Finite Element modelsNice-to-have experienceAffinity with micro-mechanical processExperience / affinity with validation of numerical modelsStrong understanding of numerical modelling concepts and underlying mathematicsHands-on experience with relevant modelling software (ANSYS, Matlab, COMSOL or equivalent modelling suites)Experience with multi-physics modelling and flow modelling (CFD)Context of the jobThis position is within the Research department of ASML. At research, we aim to identify and fill the technological gaps within ASML, extending roadmaps of the lithography and metrology market. We work in small, diverse, and multidisciplinary teams of approximately 5 to 15 persons and deliver a proof of concepts or fundamental understanding that can be valorized and transferred within the company. We intensively work together with external research institutes and universities. ASML Research offers an informal innovative work atmosphere, opportunities for personal development, and a promising position to move to other ASML departments in the long run.Your typical project work consists of developing and analyzing technical innovations to create a new machine module or production process. You will interact closely with your team to share your own work, steer ongoing developments and work-items, aiming to demonstrate technical feasibility. You will also collaborate with experts outside our department and company (academia, suppliers) seeking to understand problems, context, earlier ideas, and refine your own.
