Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Band 5 Nurse with experience in Pre-Assessment to join the Surgical Pre-Operative Assessment Team. The role involves independently managing and supporting a caseload of patients preparing for surgery, ensuring comprehensive assessments and optimal pre-surgical care.

Responsibilities

* Conduct pre-assessments with general knowledge of surgical procedures.
* Assess ASA criteria, STOPBANG, Rockford frailty scoring, and perform basic ECG interpretation.
* Utilize investigative and analytical skills for comprehensive patient assessments and effective treatment planning.
* Work autonomously, supporting patients awaiting surgery while addressing complex care needs.
* Assess patient capacity, working within a legal framework for those lacking capacity to consent to treatment.
* Stay informed about the latest evidence-based practices and national developments within the specialty to enhance clinical services.

Requirements

* Registered Nurse with NMC registration.
* Experience in pre-operative assessment and surgical care.
* Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
