Job Opportunity: Autism Support Teaching AssistantTeaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Autism Support Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated good secondary school in Whalley Range. This full-time position starts in September and continues until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.Role Overview:As an Autism Support Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to ensure they have a positive and productive learning experience. Your key responsibilities will include:Individual Support: Providing one-on-one support to students with autism, helping them navigate the school environment, understand lesson content, and develop social skills.Classroom Assistance: Assisting teachers in adapting lessons to meet the needs of students with autism, ensuring they can engage with the material effectively.Behaviour Management: Implementing behaviour management strategies to support students with autism, helping them develop coping mechanisms and positive behaviour patterns.Communication Aid: Using communication tools and strategies, such as visual aids and social stories, to enhance students’ understanding and expression.Sensory Support: Identifying and addressing sensory needs, ensuring students have access to appropriate resources and strategies to manage sensory sensitivities.Progress Monitoring: Tracking and recording students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents, and adjusting support plans as needed.Intervention Programs: Participating in and sometimes leading intervention programs tailored to the specific needs of students with autism, focusing on areas such as social skills, communication, and emotional regulation.Inclusive Activities: Encouraging and facilitating students’ participation in classroom activities and school events, promoting inclusion and a sense of belonging.
Collaboration: Working closely with teachers, special education staff, and parents to create and implement effective support plans for students with autism.Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in supporting students with autism.Requirements:Benefits:
