Working at a learning organisation, we offer a collaborative, flexible environment where growth is supported, teams care for each other, and inquiring minds can thrive.This role sits within the IT Services department, part of the Directorate of Technology, Estates and Facilities (DTEF), which provides outstanding work, study, and research facilities, as well as facilities to enhance the student experience, both on campus and online.The IT Services department is critical to delivering those objectives, providing infrastructure and services that support all aspects of the customer experience. The Audio Visual team designs, delivers, and manages technology in over 400 teaching, meeting, and performance spaces across campus. They also support a wide range of in-person and hybrid events in these and other venues in the city of York.RoleAs part of a devoted and supportive team, you will play a crucial role in supporting teaching, learning, and research across the University by providing and maintaining high-quality AV equipment and technical expertise.The University calendar presents the opportunity to work on a varied range of activities to suit seasonal demand. There is no typical day, but depending on the time of year, activities might include:

  • Delivering, installing, programming, and maintaining a wide range of teaching space technologies.
  • Troubleshooting technical problems and ensuring smooth operation of AV systems.
  • Providing remote or in-person technical advice and support to staff and students, understanding their needs and providing training in using the systems effectively.
  • Designing, setting up, and operating sound, lighting, and video equipment for conferences, presentations, and other events.
  • Supporting hybrid events using Zoom Events and Webinars.
  • Contributing to the development, specification, and implementation of new AV technologies.

Experience with configuring AV control systems, using video cameras, camera mixing and streaming systems, or event audio production would be particularly beneficial to this role.Typical working hours will be 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, 4 or 5 days Monday to Friday. You will be required to cover events on evenings, bank holidays, or weekends when needed.   • Ability to guide non-technical users to the appropriate technical solution

  • Ability to carry out significant manual handling duties
  • Experience of configuration and fault finding of classroom AV equipment, for example Crestron or Extron video / audio processing & control
