We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Attendance Officer to join an “Outstanding” academy’s highly motivated pastoral team. This is a community driven by Character, Courage, and Conscience, where staff are supported through excellent CPD and development opportunities.

In this role, you will be the first line of support in ensuring students stay on track, helping them overcome barriers to attendance and reach their full potential.

The Role

As an Attendance Officer, you will be at the heart of student tracking systems. This is a fast-paced role that balances administrative precision with empathetic communication. This role starts as soon as possible on a temporary basis. There is the opportunity of this role turning permanent for the right person.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Data Management: Maintaining accurate registers and absence codes using BromCom.

Communication: Making daily calls to parents/carers and investigating unexplained absences.
*

Intervention: Identifying attendance trends, conducting home visits, and monitoring student contracts.
*

Collaboration: Liaising with welfare officers, external agencies, and the Director of Pastoral Care to support vulnerable students.

Reporting: Preparing weekly and termly reports for the Senior Leadership Team.

What You Bring

We are looking for a candidate who understands the nuances of inner-city education and possesses the grit and empathy to handle challenging situations.

Experience: Experience in an educational establishment, ideally with experience managing attendance systems.

Technical Skill: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and BromCom (input, export, and report generation).
*

Knowledge: A solid understanding of attendance codes, safeguarding procedures, and the social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
*

Communication: The ability to meet formally and informally with parents to resolve attendance barriers.
