We are looking for a casualty solicitor (5-10 PQE) to join our Casualty team in Leeds or Manchester. At present, the dedicated team comprises of 6 fee earners, a Partner, Senior Associate, Associate, Solicitor, Trainee and Paralegal.
As an Associate or Senior Associate in our Casualty team at Markel Law, you’ll manage a diverse and varied caseload, providing defendant work to insurers on a wide variety of disputes, including those relating to employers liability and public liability within the social care, equine and construction sectors. You’ll support the Head of Department in supervising junior team members and achieving departmental goals.
The role involves working on a mixed case load of fast track, intermediate and multi-track work primarily on cases funded under legal expenses insurance policies.

What you’ll be doing:
Here at Markel Law our Associates and Senior Associates within our Casualty team work as part of the wider Markel Law team. Your day-to-day activities will involve managing a diverse caseload of disputes, including those relating to employers liability and public liability within the social welfare, equine and construction sectors. You’ll have a mixed case load of fast track, intermediate and multi-track work.
The role will involve providing our clients with an efficient and courteous service at all times while delivering on billing and other key performance indicators. In addition to this we would look to you to act as a mentor and supervise junior solicitors and paralegals, helping them achieve their targets and develop their skills.
The role will also allow you the opportunity to develop your understanding of the insurance industry, by undertaking additional qualifications, and the contribution an insurance panel law firm can make to the success of a large insurance company.
