Offer DescriptionGrant/funding reference: 101086805Job title: ERC CoG – PARACRYSTResearch line / Scientific-technical services: Polymer ScienceTASKS TO BE DONEThe person hired will carry out research activities within the UDC Polymers Group. In particular, he/she will conduct research tasks included in WP3 of the ERC CoG PARACRYST (ref. 101086805).The main tasks included in WP3:

  • Set up a laboratory for the manufacture and characterization of organic solar cells
  • Investigate how semi-paracrystalline microstructure occurs in donor:acceptor photovoltaic mixtures
  • Investigate the relationship between the semi-paracrystalline microstructure and the aging of photovoltaic devices
  • Implement Machine Learning tools to the study of organic photovoltaic materials and devices
  • Application of the knowledge generated in the manufacture of a stable photovoltaic device.

In accordance with the specific action to support the PARACRYST project by the UDC-Inditex InTalent Program approved by the Monitoring Committee of this Program, the postdoctoral staff hired through this call will be considered for all purposes a researcher of the InTalent Program, always that the selected person achieves a minimum score of 90% on the total scale established in this call. In that case, and thanks to their affiliation to the InTalent Program, the selected person will receive a grant of €20,000 with funding from said InTalent Program, which they will be able to manage directly as the person responsible for that grant and dedicate to paying for the research they develop at the UDC. . In addition to the research tasks described above, the selected person will be able to voluntarily teach under the conditions established for InTalent research staff, after applying to the department to which they are assigned and after its acceptance, provided that there are teaching needs. Additionally, the selected person will receive a grant of €20,000 with their own funding from the InTalent Program, which they will be able to manage directly as the person responsible for this grant and dedicate to funding the research they develop at the UDC. The beneficiary undertakes to comply with the specific rules established in the recruitment call and the obligations generally established by the UDC for its research staff and, in this specific case, for the beneficiaries of the InTalent Program.JUSTIFICATION OF THE DURATION OF THE CONTRACTThe contract is indefinite although it is should be noted that its actual duration will be approximately 48 months, until the tasks proposed in WP3 of the original project proposal are achieved.RequirementsResearch Field Chemistry Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Physics Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsPhD or equivalent.Additional InformationEligibility criteriaSELECTION CRITERIA

  • Academic record of the higher degree of Bachelor’s or Degree in Physics, Chemistry or equivalent, or materials engineering or equivalent: up to a maximum of 10 points that will correspond to an academic record grade of 10 (on the typical scale 5-10) . The score awarded in this section will be reduced at a rate of 2 points for each point on the academic record below the maximum.
  • Doctoral studies in the field of chemistry, physics or engineering of organic semiconductor materials: 10 points
  • Experience in research tasks in the field of the proposed research project (organic solar cells, machine learning applied to organic semiconductors, semiconductor polymers, etc.): up to a maximum of 15 points at a rate of 2.5 points every 6 months.
  • Publications in the field of organic solar cells. They will be valued at a rate of 3 points per published article up to a maximum of 20 points. Articles in journals with an impact index

10 will be valued at a rate of 5 points per article.

  • Publications on the development of Machine Learning algorithms applied to organic solar cells. They will be valued at a rate of 5 points per published article up to a maximum of 20 points.
  • Knowledge of programming languages: Python, etc.: up to a maximum of 5 points. The courses attended will be valued. Beginner courses: 2 points; advanced courses: 5 points.
  • Knowledge of English. Limit of 5 points. Minimum level required: B2 (corresponds to 5 points). From level B1 onwards, the maximum score will be awarded.
  • Personal interview, among candidates who obtain a score of 50 points or more in the previous sections, in which motivation and interest in the PI’s lines of research will be assessed. Up to 15 points
  • The merits claimed by the participants must be documented and fulfilled at the end of the deadline for submitting applications.
