Job Description:Do you want to take part in the green transition and shape the future in manufacturing and industry? Do you have a passion for sustainability, innovation and engineering education?We invite you to join our section “Production, Transportation and Planning”, where you will have colleagues with a mix of research and industry experience. Our current team of researchers within Operations Management work with LEAN manufacturing, Quality Management, automation, technology-based improvements, Life Cycle Assessments, circular supply chains, and freight transportation.You will complement this team with your expertise in Sustainable Operations Management. We are particularly interested in researching the intersections between our team members’ research areas, and the role of new technologies for creating sustainable operations and supply chains. You will contribute to the section’s research within the following areas:
- The impact of manufacturing companies on climate and nature, including GHG emissions, biodiversity, resource consumption, pollution, and land use
- Managing, controlling, reporting and improving ESG performance, including the legislative context for manufacturers (e.g. CSRD and the three scopes in the GHG protocol)
- The role and impact of technology in the sustainable development of industry
- Risks and opportunities for manufacturers arising from changes in climate, resource scarcity and environmental degradation
- Managing quality in manufacturing, including relevant standards and methods

Your overall focus will be to strengthen our teaching and research in the field. We expect you to take the lead in driving the academic agenda and delivering impact to society and our common future. To do so, you will:
- Develop the research field by defining ideas and concepts for future projects
- Write and collaborate on research proposals, incl. PhD projects
- Conduct and (in time) lead research projects with partners across the globe
- If associate professor, supervise PhDs; if assistant professor, co-supervise PhDs
- Teach and supervise in engineering education and continuing education
- Apply both qualitative and quantitative methods
You will be responsible for the teaching of courses in engineering and continuing education. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time master both.As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship, including documented didactic/pedagogic training.You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:
- Experience and quality of teaching
- Research experience, vision and potential
- International impact including societal impact
- Innovativeness, including collaboration with industry, relevant NGOs, research and policy institutes, and government bodies
- Leadership, communication, collaboration, and interdisciplinary skills
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues and partners within and outside the university
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
