Job Description:DTU Electro, Department of Electrical and Photonics Engineering, invites outstanding candidates to apply for a position in Coding for energy-efficient and secure communications as Associate/Assistant Professor in the Coding & Visual Communication Group at the Technical University of Denmark, DTU.Do you want to contribute to solving issues of energy-efficiency, reliability or security in future communication systems?The Coding & Visual Communication Group conducts research in the area of coding for communications systems. This includes error-correcting coding and coding for shaping and security, as well as high-bandwidth solutions for visual communication technology. Current research includes coding for optical, wireless and satellite communication, as well as for quantum channels.The rapid growth in internet and communication capacity puts a high focus on energy efficiency to reduce energy consumption while sustaining capacity growth.To succeed you should have a strong background in coding techniques for error-correction, shaping or security for communication as well as in receiver design.The associate professor position is a permanent faculty position, whereas the assistant professor position is part of the DTU tenure-track system.Responsibilities and qualifications
You will collaborate in a research group with both academic and industrial backgrounds in a supportive and international environment.The research interests and expertise of the applicants should be within one or more of the following coding areas:
- Error-correcting coding for optical, wireless or satellite communication
- Coding for quantum communication, e.g. information reconciliation for QKD for secure communication.
- Energy efficient communication, including energy-efficient coding
- Joint coding as error-correction and shaping or joint source-channel coding in visual communication
We are looking for a candidate with a focused expertise in one or more of these areas as well as a creative and innovative approach to the topics.As an integral part of the job, the candidate shall carry out research based educational tasks. The applicant shall be able to teach within the areas of Coding, Communication and Cyber Technology for engineering studies (BSc, MSc and PhD) including supervision of thesis work. The teaching will be based on a match of the teaching activities in the group and section with the background and interests of the candidate. The candidate will be supervising student projects at all levels, also with involvement of external, industrial partners.The candidate is expected to play an active role in raising funds for new research activities by contributing to fundraising for research by identifying and pursuing funding opportunities, preparing and submitting compelling grant proposals, and managing awarded grants.You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
