At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of the Built Environment, Traffic Research Group (TRG) at Aalborg University’s campus in Aalborg a position as Associate Professor in transportation engineering and planning is open for appointment from 1 December 2024 to 30 November 2027 or soon hereafter.JobbeskrivelseThe Department of the Built Environment focuses on the technical and scientific disciplines within the built environment. Research areas span from Indoor Environment and Energy Efficient buildings, Wind Turbines, Structural Design, Structural Materials, Geotechnical Engineering, Wave Energy to Roads and Traffic along with many other areas. TRGs research focuses on the problems that roads and traffic create and on sustainable solutions. We focus on how to create good mobility without congestion and with high traffic safety and considering both the climate and the local environment. Our research is in the areas of Traffic Safety, Transportation Demand Management, Public Transport, and Intelligent Transport Systems. The group also works with impact assessments and evaluations of policies, projects and planning processes. Our focus is applied research, and we often carry out the research in collaboration with Danish authorities and companies.Research areas will be within the department’s activities in traffic research, aiming at managing the challenges within the field, often in close collaboration with the Danish traffic sector. The current main focus of the research in the group is road safety and how to improve current data sources as well as developing new methods for road safety analyses and testing and implementing new infrastructure designs or road user aspects in community. The applicant is expected to be experienced in this research area.Teaching is an important part of this position and will primarily be in transportation engineering in the department’s study programmes in Civil Engineering and Transportation Engineering at bachelor’s and master’s level, but also in other study programmes at the University. Teaching on the bachelor level is in Danish. The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.
