Offer DescriptionThe Department of Environmental Engineering Technology at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Gdańsk University of Technology, is seeking a candidate for the position of University Professor in a full-time capacity, till the end of 2026 (IDUB Nobelium Programm). The position involves conducting research in the fields of microbial biotechnology, biofuel technology, biodegradation, bioprinting, and hydrogels. Applicants are expected to have a strong scientific record and experience in conducting research projects and engaging in international collaboration.TASKS/ROLE
- conducting cutting-edge research as part of projects at Gdańsk University of Technology
- publishing research findings in reputable international scientific journals
- developing innovative processes for advanced hydrogel technologies
- designing novel bio-inks based on hydrogel formulations
- optimizing cell-hydrogel interactions through: modifying physicochemical properties, 3D bioprinting of cell-laden structures, characterizing printed constructs
- investigating cellular biomechanics and differentiation to deepen understanding of biological processes
- testing bio-printed materials for applications in bioremediation and value-added product generation
- conducting laboratory experiments on microbial biofuels and biotechnological processes
- preparing detailed research reports and project documentation
- analyzing and interpreting research results to draft manuscripts for publication
- participating in team meetings and actively contributing to knowledge exchange and project development

- meeting the criteria of the IDUB Nobelium program of Gdańsk University of Technology (foreign scientist with a PhD degree) Nobelium Joining Gdańsk Tech Research Community | Politechnika Gdańska (pg.edu.pl)
- recognized academic standing on an international level, supported by achievements in their field
- Master degree in Applied Microbiology and similar fields
- a doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biotechnology
- H-index of 15 or higher, reflecting a significant influence in the scientific community
- publishing research papers in journals from the JCR list (at least 10), as a first author or corresponding author, in the field of Microbiology and Biotechnology, Materials Science, Environmental Engineering, Biomedical Engineering
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- a solid foundation in the theoretical and practical aspects of biofuel technologies and biodegradation processes; familiarity with the basic modeling of processes relevant to these fields
- basic skills in the development of innovative bioinks for use in 3D biofilm printing applications
- fundamental abilities in designing and modeling hydrogels, particularly for environmental applications
- basic competencies in converting waste into sustainable fuel and value-added products, leveraging bio-printed materials
- active engagement in research and academic collaboration – proven participation in research projects, including interdisciplinary initiatives; attendance and contribution to international academic conferences
