Job Description:The research Section for Business Development, Department of Engineering Technology at DTU invites applications for a full-time faculty position as Associate Professor within the research area of Business Development and Technology Implementation. We seek a new colleague passionate about how new technologies impact business economics and managerial decision-making. If you are enthusiastic about advancing research and education at the intersection of technology implementation, sustainability, open innovation, and digital transformation, you will thrive in our Business Development Section.Responsibilities and qualifications
Research within the Section for Business Development is focused on economic and managerial aspects of technology implementation, digital transformation, open innovation, and sustainability. The section is expanding its research capacity with the ambition to host an internationally recognized environment for research and teaching within business economics related to technology implementation. Research in the section is inherently cross-disciplinary, bridging various aspects of management, economics, and engineering to provide new insights into how businesses can strategically implement and benefit from emerging technologies. Faculty members have management, economics, sociology, political science, and engineering backgrounds. The section emphasizes a pluralistic yet rigorous research methodology approach, including quantitative and qualitative empirical methods, mixed methods, and experiments. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to one or more of the section’s core research areas:
- Economic and business challenges of technology implementation
- Digital transformation and its impact on business development
- Sustainable business models, green finance and investment
- Leadership and organizational development in technology-driven industries
- Open innovation, technology adoption and diffusion
- Adaption to technological change and new market creation
The Section collaborates with various organizations, including large enterprises and SMEs across the public and private sectors. These collaborations provide insight into the challenges practitioners face when implementing new technologies and challenges related to evolving conditions, increasing sustainability focus, and digital transformation.Our Department and Section prioritize research and teaching closely aligned with real-world applications, and candidates with practical experience through prior occupations outside of academia or affiliations with industry are welcome. Skills in both quantitative and qualitative research are valuable, as is the ability to connect with the Department’s technically focused research areas and industry participants.The Section for Business Development provides teaching and supervision across undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs. The successful candidate will primarily teach in the continuing education program where Danish is the main teaching language. Teaching experience in Technology implementation, Digital transformation, Organization, New product development, Open innovation, and Leadership of professional development or related fields is an advantage and a documented ability to teach in Danish is a requirement.Responsibilities
- Advancing the Department’s research agenda on business economic aspects of technology implementation and strengthening its international position
- Developing courses, teaching, and supervising in continuing education programs for middle-level managers
- Actively participating in departmental and section activities, such as meetings, seminars, and conferences
- Initiating, attracting funding for, and coordinating research projects
To meet the position’s requirements, the applicant must be regularly present and actively involved in teaching and research activities within the Section and Department.Qualifications:
- A PhD or equivalent qualification
- Documented ability to teach in Danish, e.g., course evaluations or demonstrated proficiency
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
- Demonstrated research experience in areas relevant to the Section and Department
- Pedagogical qualifications and competencies in education including teaching, course development and instruction across different audiences
- A collaborative spirit and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary work
- Candidates should have a keen interest in collaborating with Section and Departmental colleagues in research and teaching to foster a vibrant academic culture.
As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

Salary and terms of employment
The position is a full time position and the appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
