Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (Santander CIB) is looking for an Associate to join our Export & Agency Finance Team in Milan.

You’ll be part of a dynamic team that works with top corporate clients on transactions supported by Export Credit Agencies (ECAs) and Multilateral Agencies. Santander CIB is the global leader in Export & Agency Finance (ranking firs in the last 3 years league tables), giving you the opportunity to work on landmark international deals and collaborate with experts across the world.

We’re shaping the way we work through innovation, cutting-edge technology, collaboration and the freedom to explore new ideas. To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:

• Manage and develop a portfolio of corporate clients, helping them identify ECA/MLA-backed financing solutions tailored to their needs.
• Originate new business opportunities, both inbound and outbound.
• Prepare client presentations, term sheets, and preliminary documentation.
• Lead the internal approval process, from drafting papers to presenting to committees.
• Collaborate with structuring teams in Madrid and origination teams across Santander’s global network.
• Maintain an active relationship with SACE and other ECAs and MLAs to identify new opportunities and support ongoing negotiations.

Professional Experience

• ~5 years in similar roles within banks, financial institutions, or ECAs/MLA — ideally in sales or structured finance. (Required)

Education

• Master’s degree (with excellent results) in Finance, Economics, or a related field (Required)

Languages

• Fluent English and Italian (Required)
• Spanish is a plus (Preferred)

Hard Skills

• Professional Background: in the field of export finance, structured and/or project finance transactions, with knowledge of the related documentation. (Required)
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. (Required)

Soft skills

• Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking. (Required).
• Commercially driven, proactive, results-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and in team (Required).
