In this position, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to contribute to Novo Nordisk’s Minority Investment strategy and activities within R&ED, aiming to impact our pipeline through a portfolio of equity investments (Seed and Series A) within the cardiometabolic space. You will use your expertise to scout for external investment opportunities and build business cases that you will present to senior leadership. You will forge and maintain an external network to ensure that Novo Nordisk R&ED becomes an industry leader and partner in developing relations and interactions with start-ups, biotech, entrepreneurs and especially venture, globally.Some of your main tasks will include:

  • Building business cases, presenting and defending them to Governance
  • Take the lead in coordinating scientific, financial, and legal diligence of investment cases, including collaboration with relevant specialists and senior leaders
  • Contributing to Novo Nordisk’s strategy for External Outreach through building and maintaining a relevant external venture capital network to ensure inflow of investment opportunities

The level of seniority and responsibilities associated with the role will be dependent on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.Qualifications
To be successful in this position, we expect you to have:

  • PhD in a relevant life science discipline such as biology, pharmacology or similar
  • 5+ years of experience with venture capital and/or search & evaluation within the pharma or biotech industry
  • Strong project management skills
  • A scientific background within cardiometabolism is preferred
  • Deep knowledge of the drug development process
  • Extensive personal network in the pharma industry among academia, start-ups and venture

On a personal level, you possess a curious mindset, critical thinking, and a proactive work style that allows you to develop strategies aligned with R&ED needs and innovation objectives. You are a diplomatic communicator, possess strong networking skills and can build strong relations with stakeholders at all levels. Moreover, you are analytical and structured.About the department
The department is anchored in Early Innovation, Outreach & Alliances within Global Drug Discovery, Novo Nordisk A/S with a focus on building a portfolio of equity investments within the cardiometabolic space. The Early Innovation, Outreach & Alliances area includes multiple departments that support external innovation, namely Innovation Outreach, Science2Medicines iNNvest, Scientific Integration, R&ED Due Diligence & Alliance Management.
