IE University School of Architecture and Design is looking for an Associate Director for Public Events, Exhibitions, and Publications to join its team!The Associate Director for Public Events, Exhibitions, and Publications at IE School of Architecture and Design is a newly created position that requires a self-starting individual who understands the fields of architecture and design and can lead the development of a robust and rigorous series of events, exhibitions and publications, in collaboration with University faculty, students, and staff. We are looking for a person to join a full-time position in Madrid. Responsibilities:Your role as Associate Director for Public Events, Exhibitions, and Publications will involve:Regarding public events and publications:

  • Collaborate with Faculty and Staff to assemble an intellectually rigorous and timely series of events and publications that contribute to the positioning and continued intellectual development of the School.
  • Serve of speakers so they can be part of an annual series of public events taking advantage of the different sites of the University, in Madrid and Segovia.
  • Liaise with external players as required and manage international dissemination and or distribution.
  • Ensure quality, both in content and in final production.
  • Make best use of the initiatives from School faculty, students and alumni, such as Prologue Magazine, etc.
  • Liaise with the Media and Comms PR team organizing images, help with press releases and any other release information as required.
  • Budget management

Regarding exhibitions

  • Collaborate with Faculty and Staff to assemble an intellectually rigorous and timely series of public exhibitions that contribute to the positioning and continued intellectual development of the School.
  • Make best use of existing opprtunities in IE University in support for set design, exhibition, events and manage internal communication and agreeing details of shows with relevant parties.
  • Coordinate exhibitions using the input from School faculty, students and alumni, from concept to exhibition launch, duration and take down.
  • Act as point of contact with outside parties including, museums and curators, festival directors and possible sponsors.
  • Be able to research new locations and galleries and do site visits and to identify locations for exhibitions & events, beyond the spaces at IE University, in Madrid and Segovia
  • Maintain budget and schedules for exhibitions, organise important dates and events in internal meetings and calendars. to ensure all players who need to know are aware.

Qualifications:To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Understanding of the fields of architecture and design, with first-hand knowledge of important topics, methodologies, technical skills and academic environment.
  • Ability to solve problems, focused on delivering effective solutions.
  • Efficiency, with the ability to plan ahead and work to tight deadlines and schedules.
  • Initiative and Enthusiam
  • Interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport with stakeholders and drive successful project implementations.
  • Keen attention to detail, in content and graphics

Educational Background:

  • Master level, background in Architecture or related disciplines
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

The ideal candidate should have previous work experience in some of the following:

  • Experience in project management, dealing with workflows between departments and with multinational/multicultural teams.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary public programs and publications related to bringing architecture and design to the public.
  • Curatorship experience desirable: exhibition planning, visual arts research, art handling, cataloging.
  • Media:
  • Media and communications skills. Experience in media in an editorial capacity, a plus.
  • Knowledge of digital media, ideally in architectural or related publications
