We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director Business Operations to join our Integrated Data Analytics and Reporting (IDAR) team within the Global Development organisation, Innovative Medicine, to be located in the United Kingdom or Belgium .
The IDAR business comprises: Data Management Central Monitoring, Clinical Data Standards and Transparency, Regulatory Medical Writing, Clinical & Statistical Programming, Integrated Clinical & Operational Analytics, Clinical & Portfolio Systems, and Business Operations. IDAR Business Operations (IBO) is accountable for establishing, maintaining, and continuously optimizing business operational activities, to enable high quality results (time, cost, and quality), with a particular focus on leading strategy & operations for IDAR. This is accomplished by using a broad knowledge of IDAR functions, drug development, and business operations, developing highly effective cross-functional relationships and using data/insights to improve key results.

This position is an Associate Director level position, reporting to the Senior Director Business Operations. You will act as a Business Operations Lead (BOL) for a designated function(s). The BOL will report to the Senior Director of Business Operations and will be a member of the designated function’s leadership team. The BOL will be responsible for business operations key focus areas in collaboration with IBO central teams for their designated functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Drives resource/financial management discussions, working closely with Functional heads on accurate resource management, requests, and strategies to optimize resource / budget utilization (planned v actual).

Ensures L&D activities planned within a function are aligned to the Talent Council (xIDAR L&D) and GD frameworks and strategies.

Drive and monitor functional goals and objectives and performance outcomes.

Track and analyze functional operational metrics, collaborating with key stakeholders in developing remedial actions where appropriate.

Coordinates and leads (as assigned) key strategic initiatives to help improve the overall performance of IDAR against business priorities.

Accountable for consolidating, providing, and driving other business / portfolio / strategic inputs e.g. Business Planning.

Drives the development of the functional strategy for input and alignment into the IDAR and GD strategy.

Member of functional SLT and supports LT meetings by coordinating, organises agenda and ensures focused, agenda driven meetings with efficient/ effective decision making and follow up.

Oversee the business-driven vendor oversight activities for a function and acts as a point of a contact for Partnerships to support vendor governance / frameworks.

Leading and implementing consistent operational processes across IDAR, driving best practices, sharing key learnings, and providing guidance.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
-
A bachelor’s degree (University/college degree) in a scientific field or general management.
-
2-4 years of experience in clinical business operations either in a direct or supporting function.

8-10 years of experience in diverse professional experience compassing program/project management, business operations in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.

Comprehensive understanding of global clinical development processes and procedures.

Regulatory Medical Writing experience/knowledge strongly preferred: a good understanding of clinical development, and data management, clinical data programming, clinical risk management – central monitoring and medical writing practices.

The ability to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, make decisions, and achieve results in a fast-paced environment. Having a highly analytical mind, and being comfortable working with, joining and analysing data is key.

Experience in managing internal stakeholders including at the senior level.

Excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to establish strong and enduring relationships in a global matrix environment as well as the innate flexibility to work in a rapidly growing and changing organisation.

Experience in working in cross-functional teams and managing large projects.
-
Trusted, inclusive, leader with demonstrated experience in managing and mentoring cross functional, global teams is required (role is not expected to have direct reports).

Effective leadership skills and proven ability to foster team productivity and cohesiveness in changing environment is required.

Consulting and CRO business management experience as a plus.
-
Sound financial acumen and up to 15% international travel are required.
