Department of People and Technology, Roskilde University, invites applications for a position as assistant professor of Social Psychology from August 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is limited to 4 years.

is the largest department at RUC, and covers a range of subject areas, broadly focused on human – society – technology interactions and covering e.g. sustainable transition, social interventions & entrepreneurship, urban planning, digital transformation, data science, work and health studies etc. The position is linked to the research group STP – Subject, Technology and Social Practice. The research group focuses on studies of people’s subjectivity, experiences, sociality and agency in their everyday lives across different life contexts such as workplaces, organisations, institutional settings for e.g. education and healthcare. We investigate how subjectivity, technology, politics and history interact and impact how people understand each other and act together in relation to problematics of everyday life.

Responsibilities and tasks
The assistant professor’s work will primarily include research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication.

Specifically the applicant is expected to participate in the research group of the project “Participation and Situated Inequality in institutions for children’s everyday life” (”Deltagelse og Situeret Ulighed i børnelivets institutioner”), to conduct participant observations and interviews in Danish daycare settings, and to be in charge of the production a knowledge catalogue with the results of the overall project.

The applicant is expected to conduct research-based teaching with associated examination obligations within the Social psychology and Learning at bachelor and master’s level.

In addition to research and research-based teaching, the position requires knowledge sharing with the rest of society – including participation in public debate. To a limited extent, this may also include the performance of other activities.

The candidate is expected to complete the educational training programme for assistant professors at RUC (up to 220 hours).

Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD degree or equivalent within Social Psychology. Qualifications within the following scientific areas are required:

  • Inequality in children and young people’s everyday life from a social psychological perspective
  • Interprofessional collaboration and theoretical understandings of professionalism
  • Experience with qualitative research
  • Fluency in Danish is required in relation to fieldwork in daycare

The ideal candidate must have initiative and good communication skills, be a visible and committed participant in the department’s daily activities and be willing to engage in professional and interdisciplinary collaboration across the department.

Assessment
In the assessment of the candidates, consideration will be given to;

  • research topic,
  • scientific production,
  • experience with research funding and the ability to promote and utilize research results,
  • experience in development-orientated research collaboration,
  • experience in teaching and education coordination,
  • other academic experience e.g. from organizing research conferences or seminars,
  • ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation, e.g. across practice, professional education (university college) and research,

Terms of employment
The employment is on full time, 37 hours per week and you will refer to Head of Department Bjarke Oxlund.

The position will be filled according to the Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) and Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities.
