This may be the position for you.The (WOP) group of the University of Amsterdam has a vacancy for an Assistant Professor position (0.9 fte). You will contribute to knowledge development and application within personnel and/or occupational health psychology. You will be involved in WOP courses at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, where you will teach and contribute to topics such as personnel psychology, HRM, coaching and career management. You will also supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s students during their theses and internships.The WOP group offers a Bachelor’s specialisation and a Master’s programme with four specialised Master’s tracks. It is also involved in the Psychology Research Master’s programme. Our Bachelor’s programme contains courses on recruitment and selection, teams in organisations, work motivation and health, leadership and organisational culture, diversity in the workplace, and sport and performance psychology. Our Master’s tracks are aimed at Human Resource and Career Management, Coaching and Vitality, Sports- and Performance Psychology, and Consultancy and Organisational Development. The vacancy of Assistant Professor in Work and Organisational Psychology at the University of Amsterdam consists of a package of tasks comprising the following four components: teaching (max. 55% of the time, depending on management and grant acquisition), research (min. 45% of the time), valorisation, and administrative tasks. More specifically, you will:

  • conduct high-quality research fitting the programme and the Master’s tracks of our group;
  • communicate about your research findings in high-quality scientific journals, at conferences, and in practitioner-oriented outlets;
  • develop, coordinate, and teach courses (incl. lectures and working groups) and supervise students in the Bachelor’s, Master’s and/or Research Master’s programme of WOP;
  • actively pursue (inter)national collaboration within and between disciplines;
  • attract externally funded research projects;
  • contribute to the group by participating in research and teaching committees, such as organising research meetings, being a member of the ethics committee or instigating teaching interventions.
  • be active in translating your research to a broader audience and the field.

What are we looking for
You enjoy doing high-quality research and writing papers, translating your findings for practice, and supervising and teaching groups of (international) students using a scientist-practitioner approach. You want to develop yourself as a teacher and reflect on your skills. You have good communication and social skills and can work well in a team.You have:

  • a PhD in Work and Organisational Psychology, Health Psychology, Organisational Behaviour, Social Psychology, or a related field (or are within 3 months of obtaining a PhD degree in these fields);
  • a research profile that fits our ambition to create an understanding of how to make resilient, healthy and thriving individuals and teams in sustainable and inclusive organisations;
  • high-quality publications in relevant fields and on topics that concern the functioning of individuals and/or teams at work;
  • experience with various research methods and analyses;
  • experience with teaching courses and individual thesis and internship supervision;
  • a teaching skills certification (e.g., BKO or Basiskwalificatie Onderwijs), or the willingness to enter a BKO trajectory;
  • English proficiency;
  • Dutch proficiency or gaining sufficient command of the Dutch language within a period of 2 years.

What can we offer you
We offer a temporary employment contract of one year 34.2 hours per week (0.9 fte), with the prospect of a permanent contract following a positive assessment and unchanged financial and organizational circumstances.Depending on your experience, the minimum salary is €4.492 and the maximum salary is €6.148 gross per month based on a 38-hour working week, in keeping with salary scale 11, as per the .We also offer an extensive package of secondary benefits, including an 8% holiday allowance and a year-end bonus of 8.3%.
