The position is available from September 1st, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is available for a period of 4 years.JobbeskrivelseSocial work research at the Department of Sociology and Social Work, Aalborg University is concerned with investigating social and human processes of change, and how these relate to e.g. changing societies, social problems, welfare policies, organisation of human services, the encounter between social workers and citizens and/or changes in people’s lives and living conditions including various forms of vulnerabilities. Social Work Research is highly dedicated to make research relevant to society through dialogue, interaction and collaboration with stakeholders, practitioners etc. Moreover, it is characterized by diversity and cross-disciplinarily in terms of theoretical, methodological, empirical and practical approaches to research and offers good possibilities for national and international collaboration.Assistant professorship
A position as assistant professor is a fixed-term training position which includes an obligation to carry out research and teaching activities. To a limited extent, additional tasks may be defined by the University. The appointment includes a requirement to attend a course in university pedagogy for assistant professors organised by the University.The employment as assistant professor must not exceed a total period of four years at the same institution(a maximum of six years at assistant professor level at AAU and a maximum of eight years at assistant professor level in Denmark).Job description and qualifications
The position as Assistant professor should contribute to the department’s national and international profile in social work research focused on children, young people and/or families in vulnerable or marginalised positions. The position involves research-based teaching and supervision in Danish in Aalborg and Copenhagen with primary workplace in Aalborg.The position will be affiliated to , Department of Sociology and Social Work, Aalborg University, Denmark that covers a wide range of research relevant for and connected to a national and international research community.The position as Assistant professor requires research qualifications corresponding to the level of PhD and the position is limited to a 4-year period. The applicant should demonstrate theoretical and methodological qualifications as well as experience with empirical research focused on social work with children, youth and/or families in vulnerable or marginalised positions. The applicant should be interested in participating in collaborative research processes related to research projects, international publication activities. In addition, it is expected that the applicant’s research can contribute to research based teaching at Bachelor of Social Work, Master in Vulnerable Children and Young People, and Master in Social Work. Research based teaching involves lecturing and supervision of students as well as contributing to coordination og development of courses within these study programmes. It is an advantage but not a prerequisite that applicants have experience with Problem Based Learning(PBL), which is the teaching philosophy of Aalborg University. The qualifications of the applicant will be assessed by an assessment committee and the allocation of the position is decided by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Science.Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not. The selected applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that applies to the applicant in question.
