The Faculty of Technology, Policy, and Management (TPM) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Digital Technologies and Digitalization (Academic Career Track). The position is in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) section, part of the Department of Engineering Systems and Services (ESS). The ICT section hosts expertise in AI, Internet of Things, distributed systems, and IT architectures. Combining our domain expertise with systems thinking, we address socio-technical challenges, such as digital innovations for government, energy, industry, health, logistics, mobility systems, and the circular economy.The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) section offers an Assistant Professor position (Academic Career Track) in Digital Technologies and Digitalization. The position consists of teaching (60%), research (20%), and teaching-related management (20%).In this position, you will:
The ICT section is a research group with a notable international reputation driven by a high degree of interdisciplinary collaboration. The ICT section is involved in one teaching program at the Bachelor’s level and four programs at the Master’s level. We teach students to design digital solutions to contribute to societal challenges with a comprehensive engineering system perspective. From this perspective, technical, actor, and institutional aspects are combined, and values such as inclusiveness, privacy, and ethics are considered in the design process of digital solutions.Job Requirement
We seek a candidate interested in interdisciplinary scholarly work in Digital Technologies and Digitalization. In a collegial team, you will develop and teach courses on the BSc and MSc levels. Besides having engineering skills (e.g., software programming, data modeling, AI/ML, or data analytics) and technological knowledge, we expect the candidate to understand engineering challenges in linking ICT with application domains such as energy, industry, logistics, mobility, health, or public services (GovTech). You will contribute to the collaborative mentality of the department through teaching, research, creativity, and management skills.You will teach in the Information and Communication (I&C) track of the Bachelor program ‘Technische Bestuurskunde’, where students specialize in ICT. Courses can relate to digital technologies like the Internet of Things, software engineering, blockchain technologies, data science, and AI. Depending on your expertise, you will also contribute to teaching digitalization in the MSc programs. Your teaching and research will cover the fundamentals of digital technologies and digitalization in application domains. In addition, you will supervise students during their BSc and MSc graduation projects on themes related to your expertise.The candidate should have:
