Offer DescriptionCOMPETITION OPENING DATE JULY 11, 2024The position of an Assistant Professor will be associated with research within the SONATA BIS project “Hybrid structures of layered materials for modern optoelectronics” founded by the National Science Center (NCN) ( ). It is planned to investigate the optical and electronic properties of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) composed of stacks of ultrathin layered materials, which combine multiple functions in a single device, e.g., by combining (semi)metallic electrodes, insulating tunneling barriers, and luminescent semiconductor materials. The research will include studying the electroluminescence spectra of specific materials, such as MoSe2, and artificially fabricated vdW heterostructures, such as WSe2/CrBr3. The person employed in the position of Assistant Professor will conduct research on high-quality LED structures, which will be produced at the National University of Singapore in the group of Dr. Maciej Koperski. The optical and electronic properties of these structures will be investigated by the employed person using a wide range of spectroscopic techniques, such as electroluminescence, photoluminescence, and reflection contrast under various conditions, e.g., as a function of temperature and in an external magnetic field. The person in this position will also plan and conduct experimental measurements, collaborate with and supervise the work of PhD and Master students involved in the project, and participate in the analysis of the obtained results and their dissemination, including co-authoring publications.The candidates have to conform to the conditions stated in art. 113 of Higher Education Law dated 20.07.2018. • the candidate is required to hold a PhD degree in physics, in chemical physics, or in related field,
• the candidate must have experience (confirmed by scientific articles) in the optical characterization of semiconductor materials, e.g., in photoluminescence or Raman scattering measurements conducted over a wide temperature range from liquid helium to room temperature.
• experience in optical measurements as a function of magnetic field, as well as in the mechanical exfoliation of layered materials, will be an additional advantage.
• experience in electrical measurements of semiconductor structures will be an additional advantage.
• the candidate has to be able to communicate in English.

Specific RequirementsThe employment will take place in accordance with the regulations of the National Science Center (NCN). In particular, the candidate must have obtained a PhD degree not earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project. This period does not include breaks related to maternity leave, holiday on the conditions of maternity leave, paternity leave, parental leave or educational leave, granted on the terms set out in the provisions of the Labor Code or collection sickness benefit or rehabilitation benefit in connection with inability to work, including caused a disease requiring medical rehabilitation. For female researchers, the indicated 7-year period can be extended by 18 months for each born or adopted child. In particular the employed person must meet the following conditions jointly: * will be selected in an open competition, by a recruitment committee appointed by the head of the entity implementing the research project, with the participation of the Principal Investigator as well as persons with scientific or professional activities covering two research areas. Participants’ evaluation is based on the applications presented in the competition announcement, and the competition results are made public via the entity’s website, where the research project will be presented;

• the Principal Investigator was not the supervisor or auxiliary supervisor of her doctoral dissertation;
• covered by a doctoral degree in an entity other than the entity that is a member is an employee on this letter, or a limited 10-month, continuous and honorary postdoctoral internship in an entity other than the entity implementing the project and in a country other than the founding country of the scientific degree;
• will be employed for a period not longer than 6 months;
• during the period of receiving these benefits, no other benefits will be received from funds allocated as part of direct financial activities under NCN calls;
• during the period of receiving this remuneration, he will not receive benefits from another employer under an employment contract, including from an employer based outside Poland;
• during the period of receiving this type of benefits, no retirement benefits will be collected from the social security system
