  • Have experience in experimental work and data analyses.
  • Have considerable achievements in the form of publications in animal biology/ecology published in JCR journals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate fluently in English (written and spoken).

The ideal candidate will also have some of the following:

  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team,
  • Strong motivation to work and pursue scientific questions,
  • Creativity and analytical thinking.

Description of tasks:

  • Collecting data and samples from freshwaters (with the help of other team members),
  • Conducting experiments with captive fish,
  • Analysing data,
  • Participation in writing manuscripts (or independent writing),
  • Active participation in lab meetings, scientific seminars and conferences.

Type of contract: full time, fixed time contract of employment, 5 (or 6) monthsRemuneration: PLN 10,000 gross gross (ca. 5.750 net)/month, exact amount depending on formal qualification.Department of Ecology and Vertebrate Zoology at the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection, University of Lodz has a mix of national and international researchers and conducts scientific research in various fields, with particularly strong background in freshwater ecology.This position is funded by OPUS project (PI: Prof. Martin Reichard) on investigating how fine-scale variation in interspecific relationships affects the outcome of biological invasions across populations of interacting species. Using bitterling fish and an invasive mussel that serves as a host for bitterling eggs, the project uses field and experimental methods to test the importance of population-specific traits on the invasion success of non-native species.
