Offer DescriptionRECTOR OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY announces the competition for the position of assistant in the group of research and teaching employees in the Department of Applied Informatics at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics, and Computer Science at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, 2A Akademicka St.Job description:
1) the competition for the position of assistant is open to persons who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June, 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 339 as amended),
2) estimated work commencement date: 01.10.2024,
3) workplace and type of contract: Department of Applied Informatics at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics, and Computer Science, full-time employment contract,
4) period of employment: from 01.10.2024 to 30.09.2025 (with the possibility of extension).Requirements:
1) master engineer degree in the discipline of Information and communication technology,
2) scientific experience in Informatics/Computer Science confirmed by at least a few papers (including papers awarded with at least 100 points of Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Poland – will be an additional advantage),
3) at least B2 fluency of English, enabling the conduct of classes,
4) knowledge of Polish language in speech and writing enabling the conduct of classes,
5) participation in thematic conferences and symposia.Additional requirements:
1) PhD degree will be an additional advantage,
2) teaching experience in Polish and English language,
3) knowledge of IT systems analysis and modelling methods and UML tools (Enterprise Architect, Rational Software Architect, Altova UModel).
4) knowledge of programming languages: Java (with ecosystem, e.g,, Spring), Python, C#, SQL and team collaboration methods (Agile) and tools (Git), confirmed by experience in R&D and industrial projects.
5) knowledge of database systems (Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server) confirmed by experience in industrial projects.
6) knowledge of Machine Learning techniques, including Deep Learning, confirmed by experience in R&D projects.
7) knowledge of Cloud computing technologies, blockchain, and Big Data platforms (Hadoop/Spark/Kafka).
8) knowledge of containerization technologies – Docker/Kubernetes.Required documents:1) application for employment,
2) scan of diploma/ diplomas,
3) CV,
4) information on scientific, organizational and teaching experience together with the determined direction of her/his further activity,
5) statement on knowledge of English,
6) statement on knowledge of Polish (for candidates for whom Polish is not their native language),
7) opinion of an academic teacher with the scientific title of Professor or the scientific degree of DSc – research supervisor or master’s thesis supervisor – regarding the candidate’s predispositions to work as a research and teaching employee.The University offers:
