The position is based at their specialized post-16 institution in the picturesque county of Somerset.Role Overview: The Assistant Head of Education will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Education in the strategic and operational leadership of the institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, and student outcomes, while fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment for all students.Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of educational strategies and policies.
  • Support the Head of Education in the day-to-day management of the institution.
  • Oversee the quality of teaching and learning, ensuring that it meets the diverse needs of all students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create and maintain individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted interventions where necessary.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes student well-being and achievement.
  • Lead professional development initiatives for staff, promoting continuous improvement.
  • Engage with parents, caregivers, and external agencies to support student development and success.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within an SEN educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of the unique needs of post-16 students with special educational needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate both staff and students.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing and implementing education strategies and policies.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach to challenges.
