Assistant Forest Manager/Forest Manager (Full time)
Based in West Sussex/East Sussex

English Woodlands Forestry is one of South East England’s longest-established and leading
forestry consultants. We have a wide and prestigious range of clients from large mixed estates to small woodland owners and farmers. Our small professional team offer our clients a quality and
personal end-to-end service from woodland management plans and tree risk surveys through to arranging contractual work and timber harvesting/marketing. We also specialise in woodland creation projects including planning, planting, establishment and carbon sales.

Our business is at an exciting time of growth and development as nationwide interest in
forestry and tree planting increases. We are looking to expand our team with the addition of two Assistant Forest Managers or Forest Managers. Both roles will be responsible for delivering quality
woodland management services and being an integral part of our team.

The majority of the work will be based in Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey but travel in the whole South East region will be required.

Work will be home based or at a central office in West Sussex and on site in the woodlands of
the area. Company systems and weekly meetings are hosted online.

Salary – commensurate with experience

Assistant Forest Manager/Forest Manager: £25-32K

(Experience of the candidate will dictate starting salary and employment level with progression
to Forest Manager/Senior Forest Manager possible over time).

woodlands.

Person specification for both roles are as follows. Direct Forestry experience is not a
pre-requisite for the Assistant Forest Manager Role.

  • Good knowledge of UK Forestry Standard
  • Practical and commercial understanding of forestry operations
  • Knowledge of lowland forestry and its management
  • Relevant academic qualifications (e.g. forestry or land management) (Desirable)
  • GIS skills (desirable)
  • Understanding of forestry grants and regulations (desirable)
  • Ability to prepare budgets, estimates and produce reports (Forest Manager requirement)
  • Full UK Driving licence and preparedness to travel.
