Job Description

We’re recruiting for a Assistant Finance Manager – Financial Reporting to join our Asset Management team in Cardiff. 

The incumbent is tasked with aiding the Finance Manager in LGIM’s Financial Reporting team to fulfill all financial reporting duties promptly and in accordance with relevant accounting standards and regulations, emphasising regulatory reporting to the Financial Conduct Authority. The role involves managing the LGIM Investment Firm Group (“LGIM IFG”), ensuring it consistently meets the Division’s regulatory capital and liquidity requirements, and guarantees the delivery of high-quality, robust, and accurate reporting. This pivotal position within the Finance department offers the incumbent substantial experience in a dynamic financial reporting team in the Financial Services industry.

What you’ll be doing ;

  • Manage the FCA regulatory returns including preparation, analysis and presenting the returns to senior management
  • Ensuring information provided to the annual FCA ICARA process is accurate and robust controls are in place to support this
  • Oversee the capital and liquidity positions of LGIM IFG to maintain compliance with regulatory standards consistently and optimize capital and liquidity. Supervise regular forecast production and guarantee the timely transfer of surplus capital and liquidity to L&G Group via strategic dividend planning.
  • Responsibility for the on-going monitoring and monthly reporting of LGIM IFG’s key financial metrics
  • Preparation of ad hoc accounting papers, including papers for the Audit Committee, consideration of new accounting standards and implications of accounting changes
  • Addressing inquiries from key stakeholders throughout the L&G Group, ensuring they are fulfilled in line with the specified requirements and within set deadlines
  • Continuous liaison with the financial controllers for LGIM’s group of companies to ensure entity performance, intercompany transactions, liquidity and capital positions are known and understood in the context of the Division
  • Assist in the audit process by liaising with external auditors, ensuring that comprehensive responses are provided for any inquiries made during the annual audit

Qualifications

Who we’re looking for:

  • Qualified accountant with relevant post qualification experience in a finance environment
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel. Previous experience of SUN systems would be beneficial but the role holder will be expected to develop knowledge of SUN as the main ledger of the business
  • This role requires the jobholder to interact with Senior stakeholders across LGIM and the wider L&G Group. The jobholder should therefore have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to gather information data and ensure the correct reporting in line with FCA requirements. Be able to talk through the quarterly results with Management
  • Ability to create and deliver clear and concise written or verbal reports, adapting style and approach to suit audiences is required
  • The jobholder should show a willingness to openly share views and findings with other team members, other managers across Finance and a desire to take an active role in team meetings and discussions with management
  • The jobholder will be required to manage a variety of different deliverables concurrently. The ability to cope with periods of high pressure is therefore a key skill for this role. Prioritisation, planning and organising multi-task/multi person assignments are required
  • Strong numeracy skills are a key requirement of this role, and the role holder should be comfortable with key financial concepts and able to accurately handle volumes of financial data, manipulate the data for use in other financial or operational processes
