Assistant Category Manager

About the RoleReporting to the Head of Procurement, the Assistant Category Manager (ACM) will work closely with Category Managers, supporting them on a day-to-day basis on various procurement projects. The role will require the ACM to manage, maintain and develop low value supply agreements to achieve value for money and follow good practice in non-pay expenditure.The ACM will co-ordinate and apply good procurement procedures and techniques to meet the business objectives of Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) with professional competence.The ACM will support category requirements to identify and deliver best value solutions for stakeholders as well as actively supporting the value for money agenda.The ACM is required to effectively prioritise and plan procurements by working collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure best value, transparent and compliant tenders are carried out.About the DepartmentThe Finance department is responsible for the effective financial management and stewardship of the University ensuring the university’s financial position remains healthy and sustainable.The Procurement Section within the Finance department provides suppliers and Queen Mary departments with comprehensive procurement support and advice to achieve best value and comply with relevant legislation.About Queen MaryAt Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable.Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence.
