Job Description:With the establishment of a new Centre for Supply Chain Digitalisation, the at the (SDU) is excited to announce three new position for either an Assistant or Associate Professor in Supply Chain Digitalisation.The targeted starting time of the position is Spring 2025.The candidates will be responsible for collaboratively building up the area of supply chain digitalisation with a primary focus on quantitative methods such as simulation, big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.Successful candidates for all profiles will drive internationally recognized research, work closely with industry, and are expected to attract external research funding. We expectA motivated, collaborative person who is able to work in an international and interdisciplinary team, with documented research skills in the field of supply chain. The candidate needs to be a team player and, at the same time, be able to work independently.A background in engineering with an understanding of business principles is essential. A PhD degree related to supply chain management, operations management, operations research, or related fields is highly meritable.We expect to hire 3 candidates with different profiles, as described next:Profile #1The ideal candidate is able to bridge theory and practice in one or more of the following areas:
- Data Science applied to operations and supply chain management
- Machine learning applied to operations and supply chain management
- Advanced analytics for operations and supply chain management
- Data-driven demand forecasting
- Inventory management
- Time-series modelling
Required skills
- Fluency in either Python, R, or the like
- Should be able to teach courses with a hands-on, data-driven approach, such as ‘Machine Learning for O&SCM’, ‘Data Science for O&SCM’, ‘Forecasting and Inventory Management’, or the like.
- Able to supervise students in projects related to applying advanced analytics and/or machine/deep learning for supply chain optimisation.
Profile #2The ideal candidate is able to bridge theory and practice in one or more of the following areas:
- Standards and protocols for data exchange in global supply chains
- End-to-end supply chain traceability
- Data value chain
- Data interoperability
- Data governance
Required skills
- Should be able to teach courses with a hands-on, data-driven approach, such as ‘Data Governance & Interoperability’, ‘Digital Value Chain Strategy’, ‘Data Science for O&SCM’, or the like.
- Able to supervise students in projects related to end-to-end visibility in supply chains, supplier data integration, digital product passports, or the like.
Profile #3The ideal candidate is able to bridge theory and practice in one or more of the following areas:
- Discrete-event simulation
- Agent-based simulation
- Supply chain simulation
Required skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of software like Plant Simulation, AnyLogic, AnyLogistix, or the like
- Should be able to teach courses focused on using simulation methods in production and supply chains, such as ‘Production Modelling & Simulation’, ‘Supply Chain Simulation’, ‘Digital Manufacturing’, or the like.
- Able to supervise students on projects related to using simulation for production or supply chain optimisation.

The section unites engineering, innovation management, and entrepreneurship scholars in joint research and teaching. The research is on innovative solutions across the entire product lifecycle, but with a focus on sustainable and digitalized production and supply chains.SDU TEI is situated in a region with a robust network of companies, including some of Denmark’s largest global industrial players, such as Danfoss, Linak, and Siemens, as well as numerous SMEs.
