Assistant/ Associate Professor In Complexity in Systems Analysis and Control
Eindhoven University of Technology
Job descriptionAre you eager to work on the latest challenges in the control of high-tech systems and do you believe that your expertise in the technical sciences is best exploited by researching, analyzing and solving engineering problems in today’s high-tech industrial challenges? Then a research position in the Control Systems group at the Electrical Engineering department at TU/e may be something for you! We are offering an Assistant/ Associate Professor position in the Control Systems group to strengthen our interdisciplinary team of expert scientists. The position aims at contributing to the development and research of learning methods and control algorithms to enhance and innovate the modeling and performance optimization of autonomous behaving systems in different application areas.Job DescriptionToday’s high-tech industry is facing increasing demands on the performance, robustness and safety of engineered systems that consist of many subsystems that are increasingly complex. In achieving performance requirements, the interaction of different physical domains becomes increasingly relevant to describe and predict dynamics of these systems, but also leads to a substantial increase of complexity. This position will develop modelling, control and optimization solutions that are able to cope with system complexity, through decentralized and distributed approaches, while guaranteeing reliable performance of the global system. This includes the development of learning methods for autonomous and adaptive controlled behavior. For application areas, the position will focus on the electrical engineering domain: multi-physics, electromechanical and optical systems, energy networks and automated industrial production in Smart Industry and high-tech applications. The position is connected to research activities in a laboratory at the university where experimental research is performed.Control Systems group
The Control Systems (CS) group consists of 5 full professors, 5 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, 7 postdocs, approximately 30 EngD and PhD candidates, and support staff. The mission of the group is to be an internationally recognized center of research in systems and control, where contributions to fundamental theory are combined with advancing innovative technological applications in a selected number of domains, in cooperation with relevant industrial partners. The fundamental research of CS is directed towards the following research lines:
Application domains range from multi-physics high-tech/mechatronic systems, automotive systems, energy and power converter systems to industrial process control systems. In each of these domains CS collaborates with leading companies contributing our fundamental knowledge to their innovation roadmaps. The Control Systems group runs an Autonomous Motion laboratory where experimental research related to this position takes place.Job requirements
